Layla went back to the pack to greet her mother, and though Azalea seemed to understand and comprehend what Layla was trying to saying to her, she didn't seem to process everything the way she would have before.
Layla knew that it was her father's death. Her parents had been a mated pair, and when one of a mated pairs died, life was different for the surviving one. It was like all color drained out of life, everything became so much harder to do. Layla really felt like she had lost her mother along with her father .
She said goodbye to her mother and Jake, and then left with Henry. She had made this trip so many times now that she had lost count, and she just fell asleep as they drove.

Henry woke her once they reached his apartment building, and led her inside.
"I've asked Dean to find you a place," Henry told her as they entered his apartment. "He said it will be ready the day after tomorrow."
