Layla had agreed to swear loyalty, to change her pack, in essence, tonight. She had known that something like this was coming. There was no way that anything like this would have been allowed in the forest packs.
She had been welcome in Silver Hurst because she had family there, and so a connection to the pack. But if she hadn't had her cousin, she wouldn't have been as welcome. And she had been staying in Wolfsbane for far longer than she had in Silver Hurst.
And wolves had territory, that was just the way things worked in their world. So she had known that eventually, if she was going to keep living in Wolfsbane, she would have to swear her loyalty to them. She just hadn't thought that it was going to be tonight.
The hours of the day passed quickly, and before she knew it, she was in a car with Henry that was carrying them to one of the centers that were used for public proclamations in Wolfsbane.
