They were still in the forest, with Layla leaning on Jake and his arm around her, hours later. They still hadn't moved even when the wind turned, and the afternoon got colder. Layla found that it was hard to leave the forest. She knew that when they went back, everything would be different.
Her father was truly gone, now. His ceremony was completed. And she knew that Jake would be given her father's place, now.
Her father had been the second in command in the pack, there was no way that Bronx could allow that position to be open for so long, it would only be an insult to her father's memory, to allow his duty to fall to ruin.
And Bronx still had every intention of Jake becoming the next Alpha to the pack, and what with all the injuries that he had sustained in the last fight, there was a very good chance that it would happen sooner, rather than later.
"Did Bronx say anything to you, yet?" Layla asked.
