For a moment, nothing happened. Then black smoke billowed out of the tomb and something appeared from the plume of smoke that seemed to be blown out of the ground.
Sophia pulled Runa away from the tomb, making room for whatever came up with the black smoke.
Runa widened her eyes at the two contrasting creatures that slowly appeared as the smoke thinned.
She had seen one of the two figures before. It was the same as a black-robed and hooded statue that carried a long-handled scythe. The weapon is the same as Arden's, only this creature's weapon looks evil and threatening.
The other being… although no one had told Runa who it was, Runa recognized it as soon as she saw it.
It is Mammon. The devil made a pact with her father.
It is the cause of all the wealth and success Christopher has, and it is also the reason Runa no longer has a mother.
