"What?" Runa widened her eyes and opened her mouth until her jaw felt sore. "You what? Say it again!"
Mandy exhaled through her mouth while rolling her eyes. "Runa, I'm sure you heard it. You're not deaf, are you?"
"It's not that I didn't hear it, but I don't believe what you're saying! Why did you suddenly become a Demon Chaser? Aren't you a coward??"
Mandy lowered Runa's hand that was gripping her arm, then she grabbed it and squeezed it gently as if to tell Runa to calm down.
"Runa," she said, in a motherly voice that Runa had never heard before. Mandy can be wise sometimes, but it's so rare that Runa forgets she can act calm like she is now. "It's not like I'm doing it out of the blue. Do you remember when I told you I often saw those demons?"
Runa nodded, but her voice didn't come out.
"These days they not only show up, but they also try to harm me. Last time, one of those damn demons even nearly kill me."
