If Runa said she didn't mind, Arden would kiss her right here, right now. That's something big for her. After Arden's forced kiss, which turned out to be because of his ignorance of how to express feelings, he took his lesson real quick and now asks her permission before kissing her.
This is rapid progress and Runa should be able to keep up.
Just as Arden was honest with his own feelings, so should Runa.

"You didn't pick it up?" asked Runa. Yes, Runa tried to distract him. Yet Arden seemed unwavering.
"That can wait," he muttered.
The phone rang again, and now Runa wasn't just trying to distract him. The phone that kept ringing really disturbed her, as if something was going to explode soon.
