"How does your mother call your father then?" Chen Wei'er was a little curious. The children here had never even heard of the word husband.
"Dad," Zhao Di answered.
Chen Wei'er nodded and looked at the bamboo cage on their backs. "Why are you guys up so early?"
"I'm going to cut some pigweed and gather some firewood for cooking," Zhao Di said.
Chen Wei'er inquired further, "Do you guys have to cut pigweed every day?"
"Sometimes, I have to cut some other grass to feed the chickens and ducks," Zhao Di replied.
Chen Wei'er asked, "What time do you guys usually wake up?"
"Around five in the morning," Zhao Di provided. "During the winter, the sun rises late, so we get up at six in the morning instead."
"How long do you cut the pigweed every day?"
"About an hour," Zhao Di remarked. "We have to cook at home after we are done. Sometimes, my father gets up early to work, and my mother will cook at home..".
