"Rooms cost five silver for a night, breakfast included." She glances between Sina and I, unnoticed by me. "Would you like a room with one bed or two?"
"A room with one bed is fine." Saying so, I place one of the gold pieces I got from the guildmaster on the table, glad for that encounter. It would have been SO awkward having a meal then needing to find another inn to sleep at!
The waitress stares, wide-eyed, at the gold coin resting on the table. after a few moments of inaction, I tilt my head. "Is there a problem?"
"Ah!" She starts with a jolt. "N-no, no problem! Uh, how many nights do you plan to stay, exactly?" She picks up the coin as she asks the question, her motions showing that she's suddenly nervous.
I tilt my head the other way in confusion, my ears twitching. "I'll say... four nights, just in case. Ah, and could you please include a dinner special each night? Or would it be better to pay for that at the time?" It would be convenient for me if I could just come in and have them bring the food to me, but it's not really important. More of a little comfort thing than anything.
She rapidly shakes her head as she backs towards the kitchen. "Nope, no problem at all! If you need anything else, just let me know! Oh, and my name is Shwarma." She backs into the wall and lets out a little yelp of surprise before she manages to find the door, her face now flushed in embarrassment.
I go to share a glance with Sina over the odd behavior, but she's just staring at me, mouth hanging open.
'Seriously, what's with all the weird reactions to me getting a room at the inn?' It's not like staying is anything special, right? Maybe I should have just gotten a room for one night? But I like the idea of having something readily available without having to worry if they get fully booked...
I wave my hand in front of Sina's face to try and get her attention, but she doesn't react. So I flick her nose.
She lets out a small *yip* and pulls her head back, her wolf ears twitching,
She rubs her nose and growls at me. "What was that for?"
I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my chest. "You looked frozen, and waving my hand in front of your face did nothing. I am completely justified in my actions!"
One of her ears twitch along with her eye, but she drops the matter. "Why are you carrying so much coin with you? Flashing gold around like that is just asking for trouble! Is that why those thugs attacked you earlier?"
"No? I mean, not unless they have someone spying on the adventurers' guildmaster."
She freezes at my casual mention of the guildmaster, but I fail to notice. "And I just got to the city today, where am I supposed to store my money? Is there a bank around here?"
After a moment of silence, she speaks. "Yes, there is. I can take you to it in the morning. You'll also be able to connect it to your guild card so you'll still have access to the money when in a city containing a bank."
I nod in thanks as Shwarma comes back with change. "Four nights with dinner will come out to twenty silver and eighty copper. Your change is seventy-nine silver, twenty copper. You'll be in room 310, third floor, the door at the far end of the hall. I hope you enjoy your stay." She hands me a half-silver, twenty-nine silver, and twenty copper coins along with a shiny gold room key. It's probably just plated though instead of solid gold. Afterall, if it was completely gold they'd have people constantly trying to make off with it!
After thanking her, I get up to head to my room. 'I'm really looking forward to finally finding out what's in my spacial ring. Nya nya nya~. Nya-w's a good day for me~.'
I reach my room when suddenly a voice speaks up behind me, making me jump and my tail stand up. "Um, just to be clear, I'm not interested in you THAT way. I'm just here to keep an eye on you."
I turn around and find that Sina has followed me. Why though!? "Uh, well I get that, but why are you following me? Shouldn't you be going to your own room?"
She gives me a confused look. "I'll be staying in your room, didn't I mention that?"
I stare at her blankly, idly wondering where her helmet disappeared to before refocusing on the problem at hand. "You did not, and I'd like some privacy, so can you, um, get another room?"
Ugh, I am NOT good at socializing. Irritating? Yes. Causing trouble? Also yes. Having a normal conversation with someone who seems nice and that I kind of want to be my friend? Kill me now.
She shakes her head. "No can do, what if you try and sneak out in the night? The captain wanted me to keep an eye on you, so that's what I'm going to do."
I stare at her for a moment, considering what I can do about this. Eventually I catch on to an idea, and since I think it'll work, I come to a decision. "Fine, lets see the room so we can make our sleeping arrangements."
I turn around and open the door, stumbling inside when I hear Sina's next words. "Oh, I don't mind if we sleep in the same bed as long as you don't try anything. You're cute, but not my type."
A deep blush spreads across my cheeks as I look to her in offense. Any qualms I had about what I plan to do have just been tossed out the window!
Inside is a nice room. A large bed rests at the far wall directly across from the door, and a wide ornamented dresser is to my right. A chair by the window looks like it would be a good spot for reading. A quick check of the door to my left reveals a bathroom! I snort when I see it. 'Can't believe Lord Soahc tried to act like this world didn't have plumbing.'
Since I used the Insta-wash, I'm perfectly clean. But Sina decides to take a bath before bed. Isn't she supposed to be guarding me...?
I lay in bed, still wearing my torn clothes, while I wait for Sina so that I can act upon my earlier idea. But when she comes out, my mind grounds to a stop. She steps out in nothing but a towel, water glistening on her hair as it lays across her shoulders, trailing down into her cleavage.
The armor is evidently a tight fit, because her chest is easily D-cup, maybe even double D! I couldn't tell at all when she was dressed!
I cast a quick glance down at my own chest and have to squash the jealousy that tries to rise. I refuse to be the cliche 'down with big breasts' girl!
She doesn't say anything as she goes to the dresser and pulls out a white robe. I gulp in anticipation, my eyes glued to her form as she moves. Unfortunately, she doesn't change in the room, instead returning to the bathroom.
I sigh in disappointment before a thought crosses my mind. 'Was that a test? And if it was, did I pass or fail?' She could have been testing which I way I swing, or she could have wanted to see what I would do. But I guess it doesn't matter. What does is that I got to see a pleasant sight.
I lay my head on the pillow and close my eyes, feigning sleep. Eventually I hear the bathroom door open again and footsteps approaching the bed.
My mind paints a vivid image for me of Sina in that robe, her chest trying to burst free of it. It takes all my willpower not to open my eyes to stare at her as she lays down next to me. I wait a few moments before I enact my plan.
Underneath me, the rings on my tail seem to darken,any light seeming to be sucked into them. I'm not sure how effective this will be, or if she's resistant to magic to some degree, so I make sure to use most of my mana for the spell.
Once I think I've put four hundred into it, I set it on her. As far as I can tell, nothing happens. She takes slow deep breaths, so I slowly open my eyes. I sit up and look at her, mildly disappointed that she's wearing pajama pants and a long shirt.
It looks like she's asleep. I poke her cheek a few times to see if she's awake, then shake her for good measure. When she doesn't react I grin. Now is the time I've been waiting for.
