Third Person
The silence in the dining area was enough to make Emerald's head spin. She didn't like the fact that she was sitting here and having dinner with a bunch of people that she didn't like and the entire atmosphere was just making her feel suffocated and dizzy.
She thought long and hard to come up with a reason why Brian would have personally asked her to join them for dinner but she couldn't come up with anything. She knew he didn't like her and he certainly didn't like having her amongst his friends so the fact that he could have helped her escape but chose to drag her into this instead just didn't make any sense.
"I heard you used to be a nurse before you got married, Emerald," Marlene, breaking through the deadly silence that was starting to drive Emerald to the edge.
