Chapter 166 - Good Morning

-8:26 AM, January 7th, 2056-

-Canyons Ski Resort, Park City, Utah, USA, Earth-

With my eyes wide open due to the euphoria I felt, I shivered as a pair of lips departed form my pelvic region. Drained, I stared at the ceiling. All I could do was breathe.

The covers shifted as Vanessa (Violet) crawled up from under the sheets and rested her head on my shoulder. She kissed me on the cheek and put her head above mine. Her soft eyes cleared the haze as she looked into mine. "Good morning."

I didn't respond as I laid there, catching my breath. Vanessa nestled her head into my shoulder and went still. We laid there for a while, just breathing. She then kissed my chest. "What time is the event?"

Having caught my breath, I sighed. "1."

She sighed and sat up. "Then we've got to get going then. It's a three hour ride back to the compound."

I nodded and sat up. "I'm aware."

My eyes were drawn to her exposed curves as she stood up from our bed. They lingered on her perfect figure and supple rear end.

She looked back with a naughty expression. "Ky, you can admire me later. We're going to be late if you take any longer."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. I'll put coffee on for you."

She nodded as she walked into the bathroom and closed the door. I was tempted to join her but maintained some self control.

I turned my head towards the floor to ceiling window opposite the bed as the shower water started flowing. Never would I ever get sick of this view.

Outside, was a view of a web of ski trails descending towards the village at the foot of the mountain. Cloudy skies hung over the mountains as a slow curtain of snow fell upon the already covered ground.

I smiled and stood up while stretching my arms. This was mine.

I'd only made one big purchase since becoming a billionaire. That purchase was this $20M house in the middle of Canyons Ski Resort. Ever since I was a child, I'd dreamed of having one of these houses. Each year when I'd ski in Park City, the houses lined the sides of the trails. Now I had one.

I walked into the closet and grabbed a pair of briefs, sweatpants, and a sweater. After putting them on, I walked back out of the closet and pulled my phone to my hand with the force. Then, I exited the bedroom.

The warmth of the heated hardwood floors radiated through my cold and bare feet as I walked down the stairs, through the lounge, and into the kitchen.

At the kitchen table, a Latina woman in a pant suit with a tactical vest over the jacket sat reading off a tablet. There was an assault rifle on the table in front of her.

I smiled as I opened a cabinet to grab a pot. "Mornin' Izzy."

Izzy looked up from her tablet and sighed after a quick glance at me. "I don't even need to say it since 'good morning' is painted all over your face."

I sighed as I turned on the faucet and filled the pot with water. "Come onnn. Am I that easy to read?"

Izzy chuckled and set down her tablet. "Your morning glow shines like the Vegas strip. The rest of you is a closed book. I've yet to even figure out what language it's written in."

I laughed. "Hey, I'll take that any day of the week. I turned off the faucet and turned around, pot in hand. I placed it on the stove and ignited the burner, setting it to high.

Then, I took my phone from my pocket. "Hey, Google. Play my news briefing in the kitchen."

A female voice replied from the kitchen speakers. "Here's the latest news from Reuters TV (U.S.) as 7:58 AM today."

I opened another cabinet and grabbed a ceramic mug and two to-go mugs.

The Reuters chime came from the speakers before a female reporter started reciting the news. "An unexpected topic has taken the world by storm this morning."

I walked over to the sink with the ceramic mug and turned the faucet on once more to fill the mug.

The news continued. "Everyone is wondering who is behind Acta Non Verba. For those who aren't aware, Acta Non Verba, or ANV, is a gaming guild turned corporation that struck it big in the hit VR game known as Star Wars: Galactic Expedition."

I turned off the facet and placed the filled mug into the microwave. After setting the timer for 3 minutes, the microwave started humming.

"Just over a month ago, it was revealed in an earnings report that Berkshire Hathaway owns a controlling stake in ANV. However, a source has come forward with information proving that late Warren Buffet's holding company only owns 10% of ANV. Although this still works out to a gargantuan sum with ANV's estimated market capitalization of $2.6 trillion, who could possibly own the other 90%?"

I opened another cabinet and grabbed an Earl Grey tea bag. Then, I tore open the paper packaging.

"Well, it turns out that not only the people are interested. A source inside the IRS has informed Reuters that a joint task force including multiple federal agencies has been established to uncover these mystery owners."

The microwave beeped. I walked over and opened the door before taking out the mug of now steaming water. I then dropped my teabag into the mug.

"After consulting our legal experts, we believe that one of the reasons this task force has been established is to determine whether ANV and these mystery owners might owe taxes on this unfathomable sum. There are some with other ideas, but nothing that can be proven as of yet-

I sighed. "Hey, Google." The news stopped playing. "Give me some vibes."

The female voice replied once again. "Alright. Playing your playlist titled Extreme Vibes on Spotify."

I smiled as R&B music started playing. Today, the vibes had to be immaculate.

Izzy glanced up from her tablet. "Just an FYI, Sigurd is all over this. He'll find out if there's any threat level from this."

I sighed. "I'm sure my uncle is on his ass about this. I'd rather not have anyone knocking on our door."

Muffled footsteps approached the kitchen. I looked over and I saw Vanessa walking in.

She smiled. "Good morning, Izzy."

Izzy smiled and nodded. "Good morning, Vanessa."

Vanessa looked back at me. "Shall we?"

I nodded with a smile. "Let's."
