I tapped on Reeves' shoulder. Without looking back, he nodded before grabbing a flashbang from his vest. He held down the arming button and then held up three fingers. 3, 2, 1…
He gently rolled the round flashbang through the doorway in front of us. After about a second, it went off with a loud pang.
Immediately, there was a loud crash from inside. I followed as Reeves swung around the corner and through the doorway.
There was only one way into and out of the power plant: this security office and the checkpoint that was attached to it.
Beyond the checkpoint was a decontamination room. The decontamination room was there since the power plant was a nuclear reactor.
Going through the checkpoint was out of the question due to all the sensors and automatic alarms. The office was the best bet since it was manned.
I quickly took in the layout of the office as I went through the doorway. There was a large window on the left wall that provided a view of the checkpoint. In front of the window was a long desk with several terminals. It spanned the entire wall.
On the far and near walls of the room, there were lockers, shelves, and a weapon rack. The far wall also had an armored door with a security panel.
The wall on the right had two doors. One led to a small kitchen and the other led to a bathroom.
In the center of the room was a small round table with chairs. Upon the table was a small pile of credits and some playing cards.
Three officers were sitting at the desk, one trooper was walking towards the bathroom, four additional troopers were sitting at the table, and one last trooper was tripping over a large crate that they had presumably dropped on the floor. There was a total of nine targets and they had all been caught with their pants down.
I grabbed a lightsaber from my belt and ignited it before quickly throwing it towards the table in the middle of the room. It spun through the air as several blaster bolts flew past me from behind.
Using the force to guide it, my violet blade beheaded each of the four troopers sitting at the table. By the time those few seconds it took for my lightsaber to return to my hand had passed, all nine officers and troopers had been neutralized.
As I took a deep breath, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I nodded and then walked towards the three dead officers at the desk. I took their badges and then tossed on to each Paula and Tomas.
I looked around at the scorch marks on the now dead security personnel and sighed. "Let's keep moving."
I walked over to the security door and tapped my ear. "Bravo 1, Charlie 1, ya'll ready?"
Tucker replied. "On schedule."
Aki replied. "Ahead of schedule."
I chuckled. "Come on, Charlie. Don't be a show off."
I then tapped my ear twice to change channels. "Overlord, this is Cardinal. Do you read me?"
Overlord quickly replied. "Loud and clear, Cardinal. Give me some good news."
I nodded. "Sewer step is a go. Start the mission clock."
Overlord replied again. "Affirm, Cardinal. Mission clock is set for 1 hour."
I tapped my ear once to swap back to squad comms. "Guys, check your fire if you don't want to be vaporized. We are clear to proceed."
Tomas nodded and walked up to the door. He held the badge I'd given him against the security panel. The panel beeped and the door slid open.
Blaster bolts immediately flew through the door. One hit Tomas on the shoulder.
I quickly reached out and pulled him away from the open door with the force as he screamed in pain. "Well this is just fucking great."
Dante and Reeves rushed past me and dumped several shots through the door, eliminating the unexpected guards.
Tomas was now on the ground at my feet. I grabbed an injector from my belt and knelt down. Then, I jammed it into his shoulder. He visibly relaxed, but was still shaken.
I tossed the syringe to the side and smacked both sides of his helmet with my hands. "ON YOUR FEET!"
Tomas nodded and stood up. He was right as rain.
He then walked through the door. I followed him. The decontamination room was open and our operators were shuffling in.
As we crowded into the room that wasn't meant to fit more than 2 people at a time, Tomas came to his senses and relayed orders. "Dante, Reeves, you two are on point. Everyone else, give them some space."
Fifteen of us packed towards the side we entered as the doors closed. Dante and Reeves set up a crossfire on the other end.
Mist and water began shooting out of nozzles embedded in the walls. The decontamination sequence had begun.
About a minute went by before a buzzer went off. The mist cleared and a strong gust of hot air swept the water off us. The doors then slid open on the far end.
Reeves fired a shot as soon as the doors opened. He and Dante then walked through the doors. Dante then fired one shot off to the left. They held their positions and Reeves spoke softly with an unsettling calm in his voice. "Clear."
