I continued walking through the halls. With everything set, there was no need for me to take out more of them. I had no intention of massacring the whole crew, not that I was capable of such a thing anyways.
Memorizing the layout of the halls that lead to the hangars was very helpful. I snaked in an irregular path, avoiding as many patrols as possible.
It seemed that everyone was anxious and tense. Squads of troopers were scrambling all over the place. I overheard that they were searching for a Jedi. That was obviously me.
There was a surprising amount of grumbling about what a lone Jedi could possibly do. Was all of this concern truly warranted?
I smirked as I heard this for the first time. Clearly, they had never come face to face with a Jedi. I caressed the comm that was linked to two dozen thermal detonators.
I even started to wonder whether I'd be the first player to solo a capital ship from the inside. If I could pull this off, I'd be able to brag about this for the rest of my life.
Suddenly, another comm I had stolen lit up. It was the Security Chief. "All personnel be advised. The Jedi is disguised as a technician and has an injured arm. Check every ID."
A bead of cold sweat rolled down my face. "Fuck."
I started walking faster as a bad feeling crept through me. This had no way of ending well. A chill then shot up my spine. The bad was getting worse. There was a Sith here.
I crossed an intersection. The force was all but screaming in my ears. There was no clear path forward.
My only choice was to steel my resolve and keep walking. I wasn't far now.
A squad emerged from the corner of the next intersection. I quickly spun around before they could see me but there was already another squad behind me. "STOP!"
I froze and started shaking. I wasn't scared. However, my training came through and feigned fear was painted across my body.
A man walked up from behind me. "Turn around."
I slowly turned around with a façade of panic upon my face. My eyes darted back and forth, and my breathing became labored.
He narrowed his eyes as he scrutinized me. "I doubt you are aware, but there is an intruder aboard this ship."
I shook my head wantonly. "Intruder? How? We are in the middle of a battle!"
He shrugged. "Well, it's true. Unfortunately, you match the description of this intruder."
I took a step back and waved my right hand. "I swear, I'm just a technician trying to help in any way I can."
He shook his head before his eyes landed on my injured arm. "What happened to your arm?"
I gently clutched the sling with my right hand. "I was working in a hangar when a damned fighter crashed right next to me! I barely kept my life. That bastard pilot should be hung!"
I could feel the troopers surrounding me grow tense upon my mention of the hangar. They gripped their weapons but did not take them out.
The man hesitated for a moment. "Shouldn't you be resting?"
I shook my head. "Even with just one working arm, there is plenty I can do to help."
He shrugged. "Fair enough. We do what we can. Before I let you go, I'm going to need to see some ID."
I nodded and slowly pulled a badge from my pocket. This was where I'd be outed.
The man took the ID card and examined it. Just a few seconds passed before he snapped his fingers.
All the troopers moved to encircle me as they took their weapons out. The man spoke with venom in his words. "This isn't your ID, Jedi."
I sighed and stopped shaking. My gaze chilled as I locked eyes with him. "I'm sorry then."
The man stepped back and pulled out a stun baton like the others. "What are you sorry about? You're the one that's fucked."
I smirked as I nonchalantly held out my empty right hand. "Well, what else am I supposed to say before I kill you?"
My lightsaber flew out of my uniform, smacking into my palm. As I squeezed the activator, I lunged forwards.
The man's body tensed up as he swung his baton towards me with all his strength. My violet blade ignited as I held it horizontally.
His baton bounced off my lightsaber and he stumbled backwards. The force made me strong. I easily put him off balance.
I slid forwards and relieved the man of his head as I passed. I then twirled my lightsaber as I walked, his head and body thumping to the ground behind me.
The troopers surrounding me rushed forward in unison. There were 4 in front and 5 behind me.
I chopped at the first one to approach. Their legs bent as they struggled to block with his baton. I then kicked behind me with my left foot.
Another enemy was sent stumbling backwards. They collided with two other enemies. This delayed them and gave me some much-needed space.
I spun my lightsaber into a reverse grip and stepped backwards. I then stabbed behind me. Their armor was pierced like a hot knife through butter. His life was over.
I pulled my lightsaber out and spun around. I was just in time to see two enemies. The other two enemies from behind me were swinging their batons in opposing slashing motions simultaneously.
I smirked and took a step back. My lightsaber returned to a forward grip as I held it vertically behind my back. My arm strained as I blocked another baton.
The two that were attacking me from the front missed. Their batons continued around and struck each other. They both shook violently as they were stunned before falling to the ground unconscious.
I turned around again. There were three coming at me with slight delays between them. Awww, they were lining up for me!
I rushed to the closest one to the left. After deflecting their baton, I jumped into the air and kicked off their chest. I soared over them and a second one as I swung my lightsaber like a windmill. The second one's head was split in two as they fell to the floor.
Upon landing in front of the third one, I found that they were frozen in fear. I sighed and chopped with my lightsaber. Their weapon and hand fell to the ground before they passed out, crumpling to the floor.
Killing this one would have been merciless and unnecessary. That wasn't the Jedi way.
Now, there were four enemies remaining. I walked towards them as they moved to encircle me once more.
I sighed. "You guys are aware that you can just walk away, right?"
One of them roared as he pushed forth. "AHHHHHHHH!"
I chopped at them, but they slashed at my lightsaber, deflecting it to the side.
Then I felt a searing pain as a stun baton smashed into my upper back. My entire body tensed up as the electricity coursed through me. "AH!
I swept at my attacker's legs with my right foot, taking their feet from under them. Then, I pulled my lightsaber back before slashing at the trooper in front of me. I twisted my lightsaber around their baton and left a glowing wound across their chest. They fell to the ground.
I turned to my left and held my lightsaber across my body. A baton was deflected to the side. I then kicked behind me with my left foot, pushing away another attacker.
My attention remained in front of me as I slashed with my lightsaber. Another head fell to the floor as I was left with just two opponents.
I turned to face the both of them. They were trembling in their boots but still managed to coordinate an attack.
I chopped at the incoming baton on my left, deflecting it away from me. Then I slashed at the other baton. I used enough force that it flew of out their hands and bounced across the floor.
With a lunge, I stabbed through them and neutralized yet another. I twirled my lightsaber and slowly walked towards them. Through their terror, they swung their baton. I easily deflected it. Then I pulled a few fingers from my lightsaber and thrusted my palm towards them.
They were sent flying through the air before bouncing off the wall. They fell to the floor unconscious.
I remained still for several seconds, panting and out of breath. My pain ate away at my stamina, leaving me with little energy to fight.
After getting some air in my lungs, I deactivated my lightsaber and stowed it in my sling. Then I grabbed a booster from my belt and pressed it into my arm. Painkillers flooded my veins and provided me with a moment of relief.
The waves of pain that were consuming me faded as the tension loosened. I was just a short walk from the nearest hangar. Hopefully I would find my way out there.
I tossed the injector to the side and then pulled my comm off my belt. I gripped it in my left hand and continued forth with as much speed as I could muster. This hell of a day was nearly over.
