Chapter 14 - The Truth

"So, your Mom used to be cared for by strangers, Mr. Teddy and Mrs. Sisca until you were born, Radit." Janu explained to Radit while opening his glasses to wipe the tears that had been pooling in Janu's eyes.

"So, I'm the result of a pregnant child out of wedlock? And you never wanted me in this world?" Ask Radit with a puzzled look

"I'm so sorry. I--"

"And at that time you and Mom were not divorced but never married?" Asked Radit annoyed and cut off Janu's conversation.

"Mas---" Dila said slowly to Radit while placing her hand on Radit's shoulder.

Radit let go of Dila's hand from his shoulder and immediately stood up "Sorry, Dad. I want to go out first. I'm still having a hard time digesting every single one of this." It was clear that Radit immediately left Janu, Dila, and Doctor Adrian in the dining room.

Adrian sighed after knowing what really happened to Kalila, his patient. Experiencing something like that is only natural if Kalila has a trauma that is quite disturbing in the part of her brain.

"Mr. Janu, I will make sure Mrs. Kalila is okay. I ask for your help to accompany Mrs. Kalila and always give her the most memorable memories." Obviously Adrian was trying to calm Janu down because Adrian knew Janu was sad when Radit left the dining room.

"I will do whatever it takes for Kalila's recovery, Doctor. But for now, Radit seems to hate me." Janu said disappointed.

"He's just in shock, sir. That's a natural psychological response. Let him calm down first."

"That's right, Dad. You don't need to worry about Mas Radit. You must also pay attention to your health besides taking care of Mom. I'll go to meet Mas Radit first." Dila said explaining to Janu.

Dila saw that Radit seemed to be contemplating every incident that had happened to Kalila, especially Janu's unwillingness to be with Radit at that time. Dila tried to approach Radit, trying to calm her brother down.

"Mas--" Dila said while holding Radit's shoulder and sitting beside him.

"Don't bother me, Dil." Radit said

"I know you're sad to hear---"

Radit laughed sarcastically and interrupted Dila "At least you are lucky, your presence is wanted by everyone. Meanwhile, I am? I am not wanted in this world, even Dad doesn't want me." Answered Radit with wide eyes.

"Mas, the point is that now our family is fine. Even Mom loves you more than I do. You know I'm always jealous of you, right? I'm always jealous because Mom always gives more attention to you. Mas Radit, you have to remember, Mom needs and wants you so that she can sacrifice everything." Dila explained by raising her voice.

Radit was silent when he heard Dila's word. He realized, Kalila really wanted and needed him until he could be born in this world.

"I'm sorry, Dila. You are right. Mom needs me. Thank you very much for realizing it to me. Let's see Mom now, shall we? I want to thank Mom for taking care of me before it's too late. If someone else was pregnant and experienced an incident like Mom, maybe I have been thrown in the trash, was dropped, or even left in an orphanage. But Mom didn't. Mom was great, Dil." Said Radit and didn't realize his tears were starting to fall.

"Yeah. Mom is great and strong, Mas. Well, let's go to Mom's room."

Radit and Dila immediately opened Kalila's room and found Janu showing a photo album to Kalila, in accordance with doctor Adrian's instructions so that Kalila's brain was trained to remember every beautiful memory they had ever experienced.

"Mom… You must get better. I'm very grateful to have you in my life." Radit said suddenly while hugging Kalila.

"Radit?" Kalila let go of Radit's embrace and then looked at Radit while rubbing his cheek. Kalila immediately saw Dila who was already beside Radit. "Dila? When did you both come to Indonesia?" Kalila asked surprised. Instantly she forgot her two children had arrived a few days ago.

Dila sighed and Adrian gestured for Dila to answer Kalila's question "A few days ago, Mom." Dila answered with difficulty swallowing her saliva.

"Oh my gosh. Why didn't I know that you were in Indonesia a few days ago? You must be hungry, right? I have to cook your favorite dish." Kalila said and immediately stood up from her seat.

"Mom, no-" Radit's words suddenly stopped when Adrian grabbed his shoulder.

"It's okay. Just let Mrs. Kalila do the habits and activities she likes. Mrs. Kalila's physique is still functioning normally. Don't worry, Dit." Adrian explained.

"Cook my favorite food too, Lila." Janu said to Kalila who was rushing to the kitchen

"Sure, Mas Janu. Your favorite food is the same as Radit." Kalila answered with a happy facial expression. She is very happy to see her children have returned to Indonesia.

Having been in the kitchen for several minutes, Kalila seems confused about what to do. She wasn't even familiar with the place. Kalila tries to touch the rice cooker but she doesn't seem to remember what its function is like.

"Mom?" Dila said confused to find Kalila wiping the rice cooker

"Uh, honey. Why am I here?" Ask Kalila and it made Dila surprised.

"You said that you wanted to cook for me and Mas Radit."

"Oh-Y-yes." Kalila answered doubtfully "What should I cook, honey? Do you know how?"

Dila gapes and is surprised to see Kalila confused like that. Cooking is one of Kalila's favorite activities. Then how can Kalila forget how to cook?

"Dila… What is this function for?" Kalila asked pointing to the stove in front of her, and instantly the question broke Dila from her thoughts about Kalila.

"It's a stove, Mrs. Kalila. Its function is to cook food," said Adrian, who was suddenly behind Dila.

"Now I, Dila, and you will cook together. Let's cook together, okay?" Obviously doctor Adrian

also teaches Kalila how to cook so that Kalila's memory can improve.

An hour later…

On the other hand, Janu walked slowly using his cane to approach Radit who was sitting in the courtyard of their majestic house.

"Are you still mad at me?" Janu asked while sitting next to his son.

"No, Dad. It's all in the past. I was just shocked." Radit replied while giving Janu a smile.

"I'm sorry, Radit. I never had the slightest intention of hurting Kalila. I love Kalila so much."

"You didn't mean to? But in the end you hurt Mom." Said Radit while laughing sarcastically.

"Your Mom is too quick to make decisions. Even though if I knew that Kalila didn't abort you, I certainly wouldn't have abandoned her."

"Too quick to make a decision, what do you mean by, Dad?

"So-"

Adrian interrupted Janu and Radit's conversation "Mr. Janu, Radit. The food is ready. Let's eat first, shall we?" Invite Adrian who has been listening to some of the conversations between Janu and Radit

"But-" Said Radit

"Mr. Janu wants to tell you another story, right? I heard it. Now let's eat first with before Mrs. Kalila rests." Said Adrian
