Raina opened her eyes with a yawn, the sun peeking through the dark curtains as she sat up and looked around.
The door opened up as Richard walked in with a small plate of food and a cup, "You're up,"
He smiled, handing her the cup as he laid the plate on the nightstand, "I made you breakfast,"
Raina nodded, "Thank you," She gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek, then looked around, "Where's Emma?"
"That housemaid?"
Raina nodded,
"She said she had something urgent to take care of and left," Richard replied, "Why? you don't like my cooking?"
Raina chuckled, "I don't know, I've never tried your cooking."
She reached over for the plate, Richard handing her a fork.
"By the way, Alice," He suddenly spoke, "I've always wanted to ask, but never got the chance to."
Raina glanced up at him, "Hm?" Signalling to ask away,
"What's your ability?" He smiled, "I've shown you mine since the moment we met, but you've never shown yours off at all,"
Raina's eyes flickered to the side,
"I-…" She hesitated,
"-You don't need to tell me if you don't want to-" Richard interrupted, seeing her slightly uncomfortable at his question.
"No, it's fine," Raina let out a shy smile, "It's just that… It's really lame compared to literally everyone else,"
She flexed her fingers as her nails sharpened to a point,
"It's… It's not lame!" Richard exclaimed, grabbing it with a smile, "It's kind of cute actually, you can use it as self-defence,"
Raina chuckled as she retracted it, finishing the rest of her food and handing the empty plate back to him, "Flattery will get you nowhere,"
She flicked his forehead, hopping out of bed and stretching, "So… anything planned for today?"
Richard shook his head, "Nothing major. I just have to go on an inspection trip and some other shenanigans, you can rest up in here."
Raina sat back down on the bed, "So are you planning to fight for that empty territory?"
He gave it a thought, "I'm already plenty busy taking care of what I have now, why do I need anymore,"
Raina tilted her head as she agreed, it did seem like the most logical conclusion.
"Well then, I'll see you in a few hours," He kissed her on the forehead and stepped out of the bedroom, the sound of clutter as he placed the plate in the sink, then silence.
Raina poked her head out to see him gone. Running around the entire penthouse, she quickly made sure he was out before laying her back on the cold wooden ground of the living room.

"Hello there, gorgeous," An old creaky voice suddenly appeared in front of her as she sat up. A strange-looking wrinkly man with a hunch stood only a few inches away from her, his eyes staring into her own strangely.
"Who-!" Her eyes squinted as she took a step back in surprise. He was dangerous. Undoubtedly so.
"I have come to kidnap you." He spoke in a matter-of-factly manner, his hands glowed red as a small red flag appeared above his palm.
"[Lock]" The flag disappeared, reappearing a moment later as a red tattoo on the back of her hand,
"What did you do?" She glanced at the flag and the old man in front of her,
"Let's go, gorgeous," The man suddenly disappeared once more, this time her own vision warping slightly as she found herself standing outside, the morning sun shining above her head as the sound of ocean waves crashed in the distance. Below her was the cold asphalt concrete of a road spanning far into the distance. A giant gold and red building to her right; lit up glamorously as hundreds of people could be seen and heard inside.
"You got her?" An unfamiliar voice rang out behind her as she spotted an intensely chubby man, his stomach three times the size of a basketball whilst his quadruple chin flopped around as he turned his head.
The old man nodded as the chubby fella flicked his finger over to a classily dressed attendant standing nearby, "Give him the tokens,"
The attendant nodded his head as he brought over 2 suitcases, opening them both to reveal bountiful amounts of golden tokens neatly staked to the brim.
"Your service is always welcome here, Gheral," The fat in his stomach shaking furiously as he laughed,
"As long as you pay me well, Wickler" Gheral, the hunched-back old man chuckled in response, taking the cases before walking away.
Wickler's smiling face persisted as he watched Gheral disappear once more, his eyes turning over to Raina as he approached her,
Without warning, he grabbed her face, turning it side to side before letting go, "I really don't see the appeal, but I guess people have different tastes,"
Raina frowned as she glared, "Who are you? Where am I…?"
"Ah." A smile emerged from his face, "Where are my manners? I'm Wickler Heralds. Also known as the Territory Lord of the Western Coast, it's a pleasure to meet you, wife of Richard Wilson."
"You know that, and you still kidnapped me?" Raina frowned,
"That's the appeal! The excitement!" Wickler exclaimed as he spread his hands dramatically, "That's where your value lies!"
"My value…?"
"2.5 million. That's how much I paid my old friend Gheral to pick you up from where you were to where we are right now."
"…2.5 what?" Raina's eyes widened as she imagined the number in her head, the amount of zeros absolutely blowing her mind.
"That's how much you are valued." Wickler nodded as he pointed down, Raina glanced down, the number 2,500,000 displayed on her wrist.
"Now, let's get to the fun bit," The smile on his face spread even wider as he rubbed his chubby fingers together. "My ability, 'PaytoWin', or so I've dubbed it."
"…PaytoWin…?" Raina repeated slightly confused,
"You." He pointed at Raina, "Are worth $2.5 million." He then pointed at himself, "I have bought you for $2.5 million, therefore, you are now my item."
Raina's eyebrows raised almost instantly, "What the fuck-!" She attempted to shadow step away from the lunatic, but immediately noticed something was horribly wrong,
"My skills-!"
None of her skills were working,
"Of course, since you now belong to me, of course, all your skills belong to me too!" Wickler let out a wild laugh, raising his hand, and a dark purple orb appeared above his palm.
Raina's eyes widened. Without even an explanation, she knew what that orb was. It was her salvation in this retched world. The only reason she was who she is now.
"I wonder how this would taste," Wickler licked his lips, opened his mouth, and tipped his head back, his eyes continued to stare directly at her, eagerly watching her reaction.
And a reaction he certainly received.
"STOP!" Her voice shrieked louder than she anticipated, and her arms reached out as she pounced, "DON'T YOU DARE-!"
