Chapter 8 - 8. Not willing to say our goodbyes, but...

"Hello? Mum, I'm on my way home already"

NaYin stood by the bus stop as she looked around the road. "I've been waiting for a bus for over ten minutes now but there didn't seem to be any. So don't accuse me of trying to escape"

She looked at her Wristwatch "It's...Mum, it's not my fault that the bus isn't coming yet...I can't walk there you know... Don't worry,... don't worry. I promise I'll be there in thirty minutes...Just help get Grandma to have something, okay? Oh...Yes"

She had cut the line as she let out a loud sigh. she looked into the road again, hoping for the bus to arrive.

They were only five of them standing at the bus stop and NaYin was standing at the extreme. She looked impatient waiting for the bus.

"Aish... what's wrong with the bus ..." She wondered as her phone rang. "Uh? Why is Dad calling this time..." She looked at her phone, about to pick it up...

"Stop that bike! It lost its control!"

This was the next yell she heard as she slowly looked up...

It happened so fast...Like a dream. she saw the motorcycle which had Lost its break... riding towards her...Closer and closer...

Still dressed in her hospital gown, YiMing rushed out of the hospital building, looking around in panic.

She didn't know where to start looking...she was extremely clueless. But then again, her eyes landed on the bus station which wasn't far away .....

People were all gathered around there. And looking at the scene, she felt Terrible about it.

Slowly, she found her feet approaching, Slowly and slowly. She was looking uncertain and not typically herself. She didn't know what to think because Many things ran through her head.

Before she got there, the ambulance had arrived and taken The body away. From her distance, YiMing could see the body of NaYin taken away. She gasped...It wasn't her thinking...This was reality.

She watched as they took her away into the ambulance van, and then her eyes fell on the spot where her body previously was. People had already left there and the only person she saw was... NaYin.

NaYin's soul stood there, watching as they took her body away.

YiMing gasped, her expression weak. She wondered if she was dreaming...But she wasn't. Even after all her effort.

She couldn't even save her friend from the first attack by death.

She stood there, watching NaYin's ghost. She saw as her ghost looked around. She too was equally shocked and grieved. And then the ghost's eyes met with YiMing.

Both stood at parallel sides looking at each other. YiMing still had the chilled expression shown in their eyes as NaYin's ghost stood there, looking at her friend. An uncertain smile escaped her lips...

Both girls sat on a bench under a tall tree. It was the environment of the hospital.

They sat Beside each other, the ghost and the girl, while they looked at the scenery before them.

"This...That wast was what you were trying to point out...You knew all along... Right?"

YiMing sighed "I guess I can't hide it anymore...Yes...it is" She said.

NaYin let a smile through her lips "I stayed with you... regarded you as a close friend...But I was foolish enough not to look closer and see how troubled you were...You had so much going on, yet I was ignorant. feel so guilty"

YiMing looked over at her friend "No... It's not your fault at all..."

NaYin forced a smile "It might be too late to ask...But can I request to know more about you, I feel I don't even know you...so... Can I? At least..."

YiMing hesitated.." It's simple enough to put it that ever since I was young... I see when people would die...Two minutes before their time, I see their time ticking, until it was up. And then they meet their death...." She smiled.

"It had gone on like this...For years... since I was young. I saw every of their death. My parents. an ll who were close to me...It was like torment having to see them die...And I knew. Even at times..it made me feel like the murderer... I didn't know if it was a curse or a blessing...I didn't know..."

"So..... When you told me that night... You already knew I was going to die..."

"Yes... You were close to me, So Couldn't let you die like that. So I decided to go and buy the stuff myself...I was ready to sacrifice it all... Besides...my life was just a mess...I couldn't keep living in such terror alone.. so it was best to end it. But who would have thought I'd go wrong"

NaYin had her pitiful gaze on her friend. This made her the more guilty. She couldn't believe that at her friend's crucial time, she wasn't even there...

"And again...I guess I couldn't stop nature from taking its course.. couldn't stop death from his attack, It still... backfired". A teardrop escaped her eyes.

"Thank you" NaYin Said.

"Why?"

"Thank you for giving me one more day into my life... It's the greatest gift I've ever received... Thank you"

YiMing smiled "But....it wasn't enough" Tears slowly rolled down her eyes...." You were so good to me...you protected me... You were the only friend I had...You were my only source of comfort throughout my troubled times... But still...I couldn't even do this one thing for you"

NaYin forced a smile on her face "Don't be silly... I'm the one who should be guilty. My friend has been going through this much...I've seen that sad expression of yours...The insecurity.. But I didn't care to know. How stupid of me" she held in her tears, covering it up with a smile.

"Don't worry anyways" NaYin continued "I guess this is the end of the line for me.. being able to talk to you at my last time, and being able to know this...at least I feel relieved. Who knew my dear friend had the awesome power of seeing ghosts" She teased.

YiMing smiled. See ghost? She didn't have such ability before. But why now?

Looking through the hospital environment, she could see ghosts moving. Judging from their floating feet, she could tell they were ghosts. How could she suddenly see a ghost?

"I wish...we could at least be like this...It'd be fun right? A ghost friend and her friend who sees ghosts, Interesting" NaYin smiled.

"Yeah...If only he was not waiting for you" YiMing Said

"Who?" NaYin asked confused.

"Him...The Grim reaper I encountered" She pointed at The Grim reaper who now coming toward them.

"Oh...Then.I guess it's up for me" It hurt to say but it was reality. "Come to think of it...he's quite good-looking. If he was the one taking me to the afterlife, I won't mind dying multiple times" She joked.

"Don't joke about it, Besides, he might have the looks, but a temper worse than any. Heartless" YiMing Said.

"I was kind enough to spare two minutes...now are you have to leave Miss NaYin," He said as he arrived before them.

YiMing looked at The Grim reaper. 2 minutes? How can he call that nice enough? She didn't think he had a heart!

NaYin smiled getting up to her feet "I'd be good leaving early, although I'd miss you more and not be willing to leave" She smiled at YiMing and then looked at the Grim Reaper. "Do what you have to do"

The Grim reaper handed him the cup as she smiled and drank it up. Then he waved open the magical door.

With a smile, she slowly walked up to it and then stopped. She turned to look at YiMing who sat there in tears.

She smiled at YiMing and then Turned, entering through the door which closed off.

YiMing forced a smile.." After all...Death was something you couldn't escape because it was even more cunning than life"
