From all aspects, he had brought this on himself... No normal person would sign up for so many courses like he did.
Just from these textbooks, one can see that this reform had actually been brewing for quite a while.
Many things obviously couldn't be prepared in a short period of time. Just the writing of the textbooks should take a year or two of preparation, not to mention the collection of knowledge from the Otherworld beforehand.
The new curriculum removed a lot of "less important content" and has incorporated knowledge about Exotic Realm, Plane travel, Evil Gods etc. that might come in handy.
Take Lu Ping'an's "Gardener series" as an example. Most of the old course materials were "Local Magic Plants", "Common Imported Demon Plants", "Practical Hybrid Magic Plants".
