Chapter 29 - Chapter 25 The Last Ruffian

Xu Mo walked on his way back, constantly recalling everything that happened today.

Due to the evolution of his brain, he also had an extraordinary talent for firearms. After just a few hours of practice, he could hit a moving target with every shot.

Additionally, from Ye Qingdie, he obtained a lot of useful information, learning about the existence of Source Power, Genetic Warriors, Source Power Weapons, and Cyborgs.

This world not only possessed technology but was also highly advanced.

However, whether it was Source Power or technology, they were invisible in the lives of ordinary people. Everything in the Underworld might be artificially controlled. Those 'big figures' did not want them to know too much.

"Hiss..." A wave of pain surged through Xu Mo's body, which was now covered in bruises, even his face had a bruise.

Sister C was too harsh, was it just because he looked a few more times?

Was it worth it!

This painful lesson made Xu Mo realize one thing: No matter which world, one should never believe a woman's words, especially not those of a beautiful woman.

The street outside the department store remained bustling with people coming and going.

From a distance, Xu Mo saw a beautiful woman in a purple dress playing with Yaoer by the side of the street. Yaoer was holding a balloon, a bright smile on her face.

"Yaoer, be careful not to let the balloon fly away." Mia was standing not far from them, happily calling out.

Seeing this beautiful and tranquil scene, Xu Mo momentarily forgot the brutality of the Underworld.

No one had ever played with Yaoer like this before.

The girl holding her hand was Elsa. Seeing this, Xu Mo felt a bit more favorable towards Aisha. Besides being a bit proud, she wasn't a bad person. Now, being willing to play with Yaoer was probably due to their previous experience.

Xu Mo didn't disturb Mia, intending to sneak into the department store. But as he approached, he heard Bai Wei at the entrance call out, "Xu Mo is back."

"I'm done for," Xu Mo thought to himself.

"Xu Mo."

"Brother." Sure enough, two voices called out. Xu Mo knew he couldn't avoid it, so he turned around silently. Yaoer ran up holding her balloon, and Xu Mo pinched her cheek.

"Brother, what happened to your face?" Yaoer asked in a childish voice, noticing the bruise on Xu Mo's face.

"Xu Mo, what's going on?" Mia obviously noticed as well, her expression changing.

"I accidentally bumped into something," Xu Mo said guiltily.

"How did you bump into something so serious?" Mia was a bit worried, pulling Xu Mo over. "Come with me to apply some ointment. Yaoer, go play with Sister Elsa."

"Okay." Yaoer obediently nodded, turned around, and walked towards Elsa. Elsa glanced over at Xu Mo's direction, then continued playing with Yaoer.

Mia pulled Xu Mo to sit at the entrance of the department store and went inside to get some ointment.

"How were you so careless," Bai Wei remarked upon seeing him. Xu Mo smiled bitterly.

Mia returned, applying the ointment with her fingers and gently rubbing it on Xu Mo's face.

"Hiss..." Xu Mo gritted his teeth, thinking that he must get back at Sister C tomorrow.

"Does it hurt?" Mia's fingers gently applied the ointment, blowing on Xu Mo's face. The tingling sensation made Xu Mo's eyes strange as he looked at her close-up face.

Mia hadn't thought much of it initially, but seeing Xu Mo's eyes and meeting his gaze, her face instantly turned red. She quickly stepped back, lowered her head, and put the cap back on the ointment.

"Miss Mia, why has Miss Elsa stayed here for so long today?" Xu Mo asked curiously.

"To learn music." Mia replied to Xu Mo, "She said she wanted to apologize to you. Xu Mo, although Elsa was a bit wrong that day, it wasn't intentional. Look how happy Yaoer is playing with her."

"Hmm." Xu Mo nodded, not really minding those things.

On the street, a motorbike was approaching, and there were two people on it, both quite young, around twenty-four or twenty-five, and from a distance, they saw Elsa's beautiful figure.

"Vroom, vroom..." The dull sound came from the motorbike, sounding like a roar. In this area, motorbikes were still quite rare.

While it roared past, the two people on the bike whistled at Elsa.

Elsa raised her head and glanced at the approaching motorbike, frowning slightly. This rude behavior disgusted her.

"Isn't that from the Batu family?" the one in front remarked suddenly. Then a cry came from behind them, and they looked down to see the girl playing with a balloon, showing a smile. It turned out to be the girl Master Batu had rescued.

"Why are you crying, do you remember your brother?" The motorbike stopped next to Elsa and Yaoer. The man in the back jumped off, squatting in front of Yaoer with a smile.

Yaoer fell to the ground in fear, crying uncontrollably. A short while ago, she had been very happy, but now her eyes were filled with terror, as if she had been severely frightened.

"Yaoer, what's wrong?" Elsa, not understanding, squatted down to hug Yaoer.

Xu Mo's body rushed forward, immediately picking up Yaoer, and stared at the young man squatting in front of him. Mia also ran over from behind, still not understanding what had happened. Xu Mo's strong reaction, seemingly worried that Yaoer would get hurt, shocked her.

Elsa was also startled by Xu Mo's actions. What had happened?

The young man squatting on the ground squinted his eyes when he saw Xu Mo. He slowly stood up, and the young man on the motorbike also stared coldly at Xu Mo.

How was he still alive?

They had confirmed that he had no pulse.

But they couldn't possibly mistake this young man.

These two were the other two killers who had broken into 'Xu Mo's' house. They were brothers, both very young.

If Brother Cobra found out they hadn't completed the mission, they would die horribly.

In Xu Mo's arms, Yaoer's crying gradually subsided but didn't stop completely. She clung to Xu Mo, burying her head in his chest, seeking some semblance of security.

The incident had clearly inflicted a severe trauma on her young heart.

The motorbike roared continuously. The young man who had dismounted got back on, and the motorbike started, circling Xu Mo and the others.

"What are you doing?" Elsa and Mia had never encountered such a situation before. Their faces paled.

Xu Mo still held Yaoer. They were thinking about what to do, and so was he. Killing them here was clearly unrealistic; it would expose him thoroughly. The Law Enforcement Team wouldn't let him go.

But if he didn't kill them, would they go back and snitch?

Would Cobra come after him?

The two on the motorbike were contemplating the same question: How to handle this?

This incident had to be dealt with before Brother Cobra found out, or they were dead!

At this moment, a figure rushed over from afar, flying through the air and kicking one of them off the bike. The motorbike scraped the ground with a screech, sliding towards the street. The crowd scattered, but a few pedestrians were still hit.

The two got up, staring coldly at the intruder. It was Cooper, Elsa's chauffeur. Xu Mo wasn't surprised. He knew from their trip to the main city that this chauffeur also played a role in protecting Elsa.

Elsa's parents must not be simple people.

The two youths stood up and glared at Cooper, who stood protectively in front of Elsa, his fierce eyes on them.

One of the youths reached behind him for a spring knife, but his companion stopped him. "Let's go."

The spring knife was retracted, and the youth shot a cold look at Xu Mo. The two walked over to their motorbike, picked it up, and with a roar, sped away.

"Yaoer, it's okay now." Xu Mo gently comforted. Yaoer stopped crying but still clung to Xu Mo's arm and didn't want to get down or speak. She looked like a different person from the lively girl she was moments ago.

"Xu Mo, who are they?" Elsa asked. She felt like the two recognized Xu Mo.

"I don't know them," Xu Mo replied. "Thank you, Miss Elsa."

There was no need to tell Elsa.

"It's alright." Elsa shook her head. Looking at Xu Mo, she hesitated before saying, "I'm very sorry about what happened that day."

"Hmm." Xu Mo nodded and walked back holding Yaoer, not saying much. He didn't have the mind for it right now.

Elsa was slightly stunned, feeling a bit disappointed that Xu Mo ignored her. From her conversations with Mia, she had guessed those pieces of music were Xu Mo's creations. This guy was a music genius.

"Miss Elsa, shall we go back?" Cooper asked. They had been out for quite a while now.

"Okay." Elsa nodded, saying to Mia, "Mia, I'll come to see you tomorrow."

"Alright." Mia nodded. The two said goodbye, and Elsa left in her carriage.

Xu Mo returned to the department store, his brows tightly furrowed.

"Xu Mo, what happened?" Bai Wei asked.

"Nothing." Xu Mo shook his head, holding Yaoer and returning to his room.

"Yaoer, take a nap," Xu Mo said to Yaoer.

"Hmm." Yaoer nodded obediently, lying down quietly and hugging Xu Mo's leg.

Xu Mo looked at the girl in his arms and touched the gun at his waist, which he had brought out from the abandoned factory.

Besides the gun, he also had hidden weapons on him. With his heightened perception and improved physique, he now had some strength. But having seen Cobra in action, he knew he was still far behind, unless he found an opportunity to kill him in one strike.

Would those two inform Cobra?

If they did, would Cobra care enough about a small fry like him to act personally?

He could leave with Yaoer now, but that might implicate Master Batu and Mia.

It seemed he needed to have a talk with Master Batu.
