Chapter 14 - Chapter 13 Farewell

Mia looked at Bai Wei. Although she was very messy, one could vaguely see a delicate face.

She also saw the scars and torn clothes on Bai Wei's body, and couldn't help but feel some pain. She glanced at Xu Mo beside her, not knowing how to respond for a moment.

"As long as you can provide meals, a low salary is fine. Just enough to pay rent will do," Bai Wei hadn't seen Xu Mo before, but now, upon seeing him, she suspected the department store might not need more people. She slightly lowered her head and spoke with a hint of pleading in her voice. She had already tried several places.

Seeing Bai Wei's disappointed look, Mia couldn't bear to refuse and asked softly, "What happened to the injuries on your body, do you need to see a doctor?"

"No need, it's fine," Bai Wei lowered her head and didn't say much more. She slightly bowed to Mia, "Sorry for bothering you."

Saying that, she turned to leave, planning to try elsewhere. While she walked away, her steps were limping, suggesting that she was injured on her leg as well.

"Do you know how to cook?" Mia asked, almost unable to bear it.

Bai Wei turned around, a glimmer of light in her eyes, and nodded, "Yes."

"Then stay. However, the work might be a bit miscellaneous, and for the salary, I need to discuss it with my father," Mia said with a smile.

"Thank you," Bai Wei said gratefully.

"Come in and sit down," Mia stood up and walked forward, extending her hand. "I'm Mia, and you are?"

"Bai Wei."

Xu Mo saw Mia helping Bai Wei in and couldn't help but feel a headache, not knowing whether it was good or bad.

"Xu Mo, this is his younger sister Yaoer. They are both my friends," Mia introduced Bai Wei.

"Hello," Bai Wei nodded to Xu Mo.

"Hello, Miss Bai. I'm a worker here too," Xu Mo said with a faint smile. Bai Wei felt that Xu Mo's voice sounded familiar, somewhat like the 'Hunter' who saved her, though the 'Hunter's' voice was deeper and colder, whereas Xu Mo's voice still carried some youthful tone.

Not thinking much of it, Bai Wei naturally wouldn't believe that a fifteen-year-old Xu Mo could be the same 'Hunter' who maneuvered expertly in the casino and fighting arena.

"Mia, why are we hiring more people?" Master Batu came down from upstairs. Hearing the noise, Bai Wei stood up and saw Master Batu looking her over.

"Dad," Mia walked up, holding Master Batu's arm, and laughed, "With Xu Mo and Yaoer here, I have to cook a lot and do the laundry by myself. It's exhausting. Bai Wei can help."

"My dear daughter, our little store can't afford to support so many people," Master Batu lost his temper as Mia pouted.

"Dad…" Mia shook his arm. Master Batu, helpless, said, "Okay, okay, but I can't pay much in salary."

Bai Wei felt a bit uncomfortable watching this, not because of the 'salary' but because seeing Master Batu and Mia made her think of her own father.

"Master Batu, Yaoer and I have been a burden to you and Miss Mia, not doing much work. You don't have to pay me a salary anymore," Xu Mo said to Master Batu. Since Mia had already agreed to keep Bai Wei, he tried to free himself so that Bai Wei could replace him, giving him more time for cultivation and the Breathing Technique.

"No," Mia said.

"Since Xu Mo is so considerate, let him do less work. Bai Wei can share the load," Batu said bluntly.

"Okay," Xu Mo nodded and looked at Bai Wei, "In the future, Bai Wei, you'll have to work hard."

"No problem, I can handle it all," Bai Wei naturally was willing to do more work to secure stability.

Master Batu agreed to pay Bai Wei fifty Federation coins per month and provide meals, so Bai Wei settled at the department store. Afterward, Mia personally applied medicine to Bai Wei's wounds.

...…

At night, after the artificial lights in the Underworld were extinguished, the department store also closed. Xu Mo and his group dined on the rooftop.

"Bai Wei, eat more," Mia put a piece of bread on Bai Wei's plate. She had learned about Bai Wei's ordeal from her.

"Thank you, Miss Mia," Bai Wei said.

"Bai Wei, you said the person who saved you told you to come to this area. Do you think he might be nearby and could protect you?" Mia asked.

Bai Wei shook her head, "I don't know."

Recalling everything that had happened today, she understood that the Hunter was different from other people in the black market. Would he come looking for her again?

Xu Mo sat across from them, quietly eating while holding Yaoer.

"Bai Wei, it just so happens that I feel a bit lonely at night. Would you stay and keep me company?" Mia looked at Bai Wei with a sincere smile. Bai Wei was stunned for a moment but saw the genuine smile in Mia's eyes.

"Ahem," Master Batu coughed and said, "Xu Mo, it's not safe for Bai Wei to walk alone. From now on, escort her."

Xu Mo looked at Master Batu, then nodded and said, "Okay."

Bai Wei felt flustered hearing Master Batu's words. She timidly finished her bread and said, "I'm full. I'll go back first."

"Bai Wei, let me walk you," Xu Mo also stood up.

"Okay," Bai Wei stood up and said, "Master Batu, Miss Mia, see you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow," Mia stood up.

"Go to Sister Mia." Xu Mo handed Yaoer to Mia and went downstairs with Bai Wei.

As soon as they left, Mia felt a bit aggrieved, "I'm full too."
