The giant of a guard bowed his head and let them pass. He looked up and stole just one more glance at his soon to be Luna. As gamma it is his job to make sure she's protected. He can sense and influence her moods using his gamma charm. He knew the chair was temporary, but goddess how could she be so tiny and sitting in a wheelchair but be so… fiercely strong and forceful. Not that it was in any ways cold, rude or clipped. She just merely wanted to make her intentions clear that she was no slacker and would not lay about being pampered while her pack worked.
And goddess has she seemed so fierce just now when vowing to do her part. Oh she meant it. Absolutely. He could sense the honor and integrity she possessed. What amused him most was the doubts and fears he felt creeping up her mind, but just when he was about to offer assistance, she tamped it back down herself. Never had he heard of a Luna able to do so. He instantly knew he'd adore this spunky young lady. He would already give his life to save her. She had such a pull to her.
Oblivious to her future protectors thoughts and feeling that were rolling off him, Jessa continued into the house following Luna Mae. Amelia pushing her chair as James turned to his gamma.
'I'm very glad to see that you feel that way Lloyd. She is fierce. She's been through so much pain and misery. I WANT to spoil her, but I know she'll have none of it." He mindlinked.
'No, I don't think she will. She wants to prove herself worthy of you. She has such complex feelings. Jeez what did they do to her?!?! She's got will. Absolutely. But her confidence is nearly nonexistent. I'm willing to bet it's her wolfs confidence bleeding through.'
'She's had a very bad life' James relayed all her experiences to his gamma.
Lloyd let out a low rumbling growl. He was outraged! They didn't even treat rogues that badly! That pack needed to be removed. What a disgrace to all werekind!
James turned back to follow his mate into the house. He lifted her from her chair and began to carry her up the stairs to her suite bridal style. He could've taken the elevator but he selfishly wanted to feel her close to him a little while longer. He didn't think she minded given how she curled into his chest her eyes looking all around her.
The pack house was done in the pack colors. Navy blue, white, silver and black. Just like the colors of the moon and sky on a new Rising Moon. The stairs were white and silver marble, with deep navy carpeting running the center. The drapes at the windows were navy with silver holders. Black planters lined the stairs with beautiful white carnations and greenery. The stairwell walls lined with pictures of the previous alphas and Lunas. It was so beautiful and luxurious.
Jessa's eyes wandered around her surroundings and when she assumed they'd stop on the fourth floor which is generally for visitors, she was gobsmacked when he went to an elevator and pushed the 5th floor. The alphas floor? Surely there's some kinda goof up? Even if she was his mate, they weren't marked yet. He hasn't accepted her as of yet. It filled her with anxiety thinking that, he noticed and leaned down to kiss her on her forehead.
"What's wrong love?" He asked
"Did you mean to bring me to this floor? I must surely belong on the 4th with Amelia and Caleb. We aren't marked yet…" she said deciding not to say the rest of that sentence.
He chuckled and lead her past an ornate door next to his very own office. The doors were heavy black wood carved with stars and a big crescent moon. The silver name plate said "Luna's Office" on it. She blushed. Would she be good enough for this position? She noted where his own bedroom door was and that the room he was taking her to wasn't his. But rather right across from his.
He opened the door to a small living area. There was a marble white and black table with black chairs, navy blue couch and love seat, a polished coffee table in the same color as the dining table, a black and sleek looking refrigerator and a matching microwave sat on a black glossy credenza. The floor was a warm honey colored wood with a navy blue, white and silver area rug. It was beautiful. So much prettier than her previous packhouse. It was only three floors and done in Hunter green with gold and red.
She noted there were three doors leading from the living room/kitchen area and assumed those to be two bedrooms and a bath. She was surprised to find they were all rooms.
He took her to the first door on the right and opened it to a fairly large room done in white and blue.
"This is Caleb's room" he explained. She saw the closet was already stocked with clothing as well as school uniforms for the boy. She supposed someone had gone shopping. It was easier for men. They wore pretty much whatever was cleanest at his age. There was also a full bath with a shower stall. He wouldn't be the least interested in a bath. He'd quit those years ago in favor of showering or jumping into the pond. But best feature of all had to be the large ebony carved desk and three towering floor to ceiling bookcases. Two were already full of books on everything from history on to the full encyclopedia. She saw several books stacked already on the night stand where he'd already started reading. Another stack on the desk.
The second door went into a room the same size. A king bed draped in white and rosy pink. All the accents were gold tones and pink. No doubt this was Amelia's room. They both loved the girly colors and frills. Though they were never allowed to own such things. Her closet was much more sparse. A few pieces had been hung. She assumed Amelia had waited for her to get better to go shopping. For as tough as she was, Amelia could be such a scaredy-wolf. Her bathroom was envy worthy. A huge claw foot tub, white marble, and miles of countertop with organizers to hold a beauty shops worth of lotions, cosmetics and tools. Not that either of them had much experience with makeup. They weren't allowed to own more than basics to hide any bruising during events.
Finally they arrived at her door. She was nervous about seeing it. Nervousness she realized wasn't her own. He was anxious. She could feel his chest pounding from his heart hammering. How silly. She would be perfectly happy on a cot on the floor. She looked him in the eye and smiled.
"I'd be happy on a floor if it meant I was near to you. Don't be nervous." Her voice purred.
"Over my dead body would you sleep in a floor!" He growled slightly.
She slid down out of his arms and turned the knob to her room. She opened the door and was stunned to find the most beautiful space she'd ever seen. The walls were a soft peachy shade, the bed! Oh the bed! It was a beautiful carved canopy bed with purples and peach bedding. Mountains of pillows in oranges, pinks and yellows. The canopy was a pale ivory. Not stark white, more of a cream color.
The closet, like Amelia's, held little but they'd be going shopping soon. Honestly she was fine with what was already there. It was already nicer and more than she owned. Speaking of, she didn't see her clothing anywhere. Nor did she see Amelia's or Caleb's.
"Where did our clothes go? I don't see them anywhere." She said
"Er, well I asked the others if they wanted theirs and they both said no. I have yours put aside in a tote, it's there in the other side of the closet. I had Anna bring you these as well as the ones you're wearing because there was nothing in your own clothing not stained or ripped. You'll never have to wear anything so torn and old again!" he said with conviction "how long ago did you even buy those?!?" He asked.
"Buy them? Oh no, omegas and slaves simply get what's cast down by the ranked members. Usually what's outgrown or damaged. We aren't able to buy clothing. We don't have money." She replied nonchalant
James grew outraged again. How could any Alpha allow such behavior? Such treatment of any of his pack? What a weak useless man. If James caught any of his members being so evil he'd banish them on the spot.
She continued exploring her room. The oranges, pinks and tans in the area rug were beautiful. The white and rose marble tables and desk were beautiful. Purple curtains hung at the windows. Her bathroom made her want to weep! It was nearly identical to Amelia's but her tub had a jet system. She immediately longed to shed her clothing and climb into it. Maybe she would…
