Chapter 2 - A Disciple of the Path

Their body was limp, yet they felt the rays of Sol beckoning their eyelids to open. Eyes flickered and squinted in discomfort as Sol empowered their vision. Soon after their sight had been restored, they came to the realisation that they were staring up not at the skies of the Dreaming City, but the ceiling of a cave.

Their body wriggled in an attempt to sit up, but to no avail. Uselessly paralysed they thought about what had happened. They thought of how they touched the Monolith and realised that they had been blinded by power hungry thoughts so much so that they hadn't noticed that the Monolith was covered in Taken Energy until now. The Young Guardian contemplated this for a small moment, realising that the reason they were paralysed was maybe because they had made direct contact with the Taken Monolith. 'But that can't be right, She was there, I saw her through my visor. There's no mistaking i-' They thought after digesting the situation and comprehending who and what they saw just before they passed out.

As if beckoned through though, they heard a quiet humming sound. It sounded the cave creating an echo that made the Young Guardians stomach quench itself in dread. They managed to turn their head slightly to the right, they saw that at the back of the cave, was a heap of moths, swarming around the entity they had recently recalled seeing before they passed out after touching the Monolith.

"Savathûn." Their mind went blank. Consumed with terror and yet unable to feel the physical effects of the emotion.

The hunk of flesh that seemed to eerily glide over the ground approached the Young Guardian and held out a bone-bound almost skeletal hand to their mortal body. It seemed as though the immortal Witch Queen had extended her hand as a gesture of good will.

"Good Faith is a strange entity in this world Young Disciple, I suggest you take the offer before they come looking." Savathûn said, yet when she spoke, they couldn't seem to see her mouth move at all, it was this realisation that painted their face clueless and caused a wicked, crooked smile to creep across the already malevolent face of Savathûn.

The Young Guardians body seemed to be regaining control of its senses because they were able to turn their head without hassle now.

The cave began to shake and debris began to fall, the shaking however, stopped within the first few moments of fear the Young Guardian had felt. When they looked up and around the cave, they saw hieroglyphs and an ancient language prescribed on the walls that had been revealed thanks to Savathûn.

The Young Guardian turned to face Savathûn as to ask what the language was. But when they met the eyes of the creature in front of them. They had realised that this was no longer the Hive Monarch that had descended from the universe to help them just moments ago.

A being, tall and slender with pale skin and alien-like eyes pierced their eyes and dread bellowed in their stomach, just as darkness bellowed from the beings head instead of the hairstyles of Humans or the pincers of the Eliksni.

The Young Guardian had no idea who the being was, yet the wide eyed entity seemed intent on observing every inch of their eyes. It was as though this being could see the world through theirs.

After a long moment of silence, the being drifted over to the Young Guardian and spoke in a way that made every inch of hair on the Young Guardians body stand up to no end.

"Your pale heart, holds the key." It said, the cave seemingly shivering as the entity before the Young Guardian spoke.

"To"

The entity spoke as its hands slowly raised up towards the Young Guardians Face, leaving echoes of itself behind it as it drifted ever closer, its hands reaching for the boys mind.

The Young Guardian...or, Young Mortal wriggled around begging his body to move, to run. To Flee.

"Salvation"

The words of the Darkness had crept into the Young Guardians mind, invading their most darkest thoughts. The thoughts extended deep into their mind where the Roots of Darkness spread into the depths of greed and lust, filling their mind with knowledge of the darkness and who they truly were or...would be.

The Young Guardians vision began to blur and as he feinted for just a moment.

The sounding of a bell awoke the Young Guardian. They looked around startled and dazed to see the same being standing in front of them. But this time its back was facing them as it looked outside the cave and to the Monolith.

"We are here. Your Beckons have been answered. Young Disciple, what is it that you seek."

The Witness ushered inside the Young Guardians mind.
