Chereads / THE ONE FOR ME / Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Alex was in his car heading to 02, but he couldn't stop thinking about the earlier scent. Her beautiful face came to mind, and he wondered what she was doing in the area. 'Does she live around here?' he thought to himself. Maybe he could find her around if she did.

The car stopped outside a building written on 02 gyms. It had three floors. Another fancy structure is owned by Alex.

He cracked his fingers before moving out. It was a sign that whoever was on the receiving end wasn't going to have it easy.

Despite being a torture center, the irony was that everywhere was pained white. The guards and everyone who knew about it called it the icy paradise. It spoke class; you will be met with a reception area and two lower floor sections when you enter inside. One team harbored that general gym, and the other section was the private gym for personal training. The second floor, the last area that everyone had access to, had the bathrooms and changing rooms. The third floor could only be accessed with the VIP elevator. While inside, the elevator wouldn't start moving unless authorized palms were scanned.

Alex, along with his entourage, went straight to the VIP elevator, and he planned his palm to be scanned, To which a green light was shown, and the elevator started moving. A minute later, they were on the next floor. The elevator opened to an office that looked like an apartment living space. Alex walked straight to the office table. One could tell at first glance that he was very familiar with the place. However, despite the extra beauty the home-like design harbored, his eyes did not trail anywhere else, unlike one bodyguard who was there for the first time.

He placed his left hand under the table, and a glass-like partition was shown on the table. He put his thumb, and the wall behind him split into two, revealing a black door. He placed his thumb again, and the partition closed up. At the door, his eyes were scanned before everyone else was given access inside.

One would wonder why he would openly access the locks with all his guards around despite having a case of someone snitching on them, but Alex was so intelligent, and no one would beat him. All locks were changed each time he gained access. Right to this statement, as the four of them disappeared inside, a door was opened on the left, and out came an older man who looked to be in his forties, but he dressed like a youth. In his left hand was a brown briefcase. He placed it on the table. The door behind him pinged, a sign of being closed.

After taking a few steps from the black door, an elevator door was opened, and it went down. Took them close to 5 minutes before they got to their destination, in the elevator. Alex was handed gloves by one of the bodyguards carrying a black backpack.

"Ding," Sounded the elevator once it stopped. The four walked out, and just like every part they hard walked through, everything else was white, unlike the black door.

"Cross," Alex called to one of the bodyguards, and the tallest one of them came to the front. And Alex only nodded his head.

Cross pulled out a set of keys from his jacket and opened a cabinet next to the elevator. Next, he pulled out a black briefcase, and together they headed to another black door. Once they entered the door, they slopped a few steps, and a massive room with all kinds of armaments was revealed. Once in, Cross led them to another entrance, and inside they found old man Eliot and two other men. The room was just as big as the one harboring the armory.

In the middle of the room was a chair, and on it sat a man who was tied. He looked untouched by all indications. They seemed to have been waiting for Alex. Old man Eliot and the other two bowed in respect to Alex. He acknowledged them with a nod and said nothing.

By all indications, it was Dennis, the snitch. Whatever had prompted him to betray Alex might have been quite a big deal. But how could he even cross that path with all the reputation around Alex as a merciless man how could he even cross that path?

Alex was given a seat, and he pulled it opposite Dennis. Looking at the man sitting in front of him. Alex seemed so pained that it had to be him who betrayed him out of all the other people.

"Why?" Alex said calmly. Dennis looked up, but nothing could come out of his mouth. Alex didn't say anything; he just raised his right eyebrow to encourage him to speak. When Dennis said nothing, he stood up and approached him like a predator. A shiver went through Dennis, and he started shivering. Everyone else in the room never wished to be in Dennis' position in a hundred years.

Alex went till where Denis rounded his seat to go behind him. Dennis, who was scared, wanted to turn himself to look at Alex but couldn't because of the position he was tied in. How painful. Alex bent down just enough to whisper in Denis' ears, "You know when I ask, you need to answer, and I just asked you something." The words sounded polite enough coming from Alex's lip because his lip was lifted in a smile, but the message behind them carried a warning.
