Chapter 31 - Let the game begin

Lan Mei began her mission even though she was typically unwilling. In any case, she had no choice but to oblige, much to my relief. She went to the supermarket. Her target was the special flank filled with women's underwear and other related accessories. They were many and almost indistinguishable. In front of the store, her eyes flickered with hesitation. However, one of the store attendants saw her. She moved with a long stride to bring her in.

This woman was mature with charm suitable for adults. Lan Mei did not have such allure as they could only develop with age. However, the woman had a cunning smile and small eyes. She laughed hoarsely, much to the annoyance of anyone that heard her. But the most troublesome thing was that she pretended a lot. Even as she moved forward, she gauged Lan Mei to see her capability. Seeing her style, she thought she was only a step above average; the lady sneered, but she never betrayed it on her expression. Lan Mei appeared above average but not a typical high class because she could not kit up more than her master. At the same time, she actually didn't have that aura yet.

"My friend, what would you like to buy?" she smiled pretentiously.

"I want to buy a few of these—" Lan Mei didn't have to finish her statement as she pointed at what she wanted. They were underwear and perfumes.

The woman looked at Lan Mei; she became slightly lost in thought. But she suddenly smiled and beckoned with her hand for them to move around for the selection. Lan Mei followed without any question. Her heart trembled, but she never betrayed any of it on her expression. After all, it was natural for a girl to buy those things mentioned. However, purchasing different perfumed was called for slight doubt. It was the reason I never allowed Boazhai Dayu to do it. She was way too anxious, and she couldn't hide any of her emotions. She would easily expose hints. Of course, those stores have nothing to be nosy about, but it makes an awkward position. At the same time, Toa Fen would create chaos because she was sure to be someone who stood out; avoiding ample exposure was much to my interest. After a while, Lan Mei came out with a small black bag. Everything she purchased was inside.

…..

Inside her room, Lan Mei returned to her anxious self. She was sweating even though the air conditioning was functioning at its maximum. At this moment, she went to the bathroom to have her bath.

Soon after, the shower pump buzzed with water. In the bathroom, the white fume covered everywhere and what people could see was only a black hair full of lather. Even in the shower, her mind wandered off: how to do? What to ask? There was no doubt that this was her first time undergoing such a dangerous job. It was like I betrothed her to an unknown man. After a while, she came out with a white towel; she applied the needed body ointment and light makeup. She changed to a light dress. It was already evening and also a weekend. She brought out a book; the book appeared to be a map with details of instruction. She focused her dull mind on comprehending the simplified work. While she did these things, she continuously sighed as though the heavens fell on her shoulder.

At this moment, Lan Mei heard the ringing and vibration of her phone. She frowned and hesitated before picking it up from the table and receiving the call.

"Mei, are you occupied this weekend? Why don't we hang out? At least we could celebrate that guy's failure and embarrassment." The voice sounded sharp and lively.

"Oh, it is lady Fen. I have some things to take care of for now. Forgive me." Since Toa Fen understood what it felt like to be isolated, she treated her subordinates slightly differently. Reversely, Lan Mei gained some little control—she wasn't that headless fly anymore because she now has her own opinion.

"What… oh, is that so? Well, when you have the time." Toa Fen had thought to ask more, but she hesitantly showed her understanding. Perhaps, she believed time would consolidate her position again in their lives.

After some irrelevant chat, Lan Mei hung up. She couldn't afford to waste any time. Lan Mei frowned at the paper in front of her with a pensive heart. She considered it for a while before grabbing her phone again. She anxiously dialed a number.

"Hello, senior. Can we meet now?"

...

While almost everywhere in Suzhou Academy had cameras, there were places without any. Perhaps, the school had felt that such spots didn't need the camera as people passed there often. However, the map I gave Lan Mei to study had an unusual period that people didn't always pass there—especially third-year students. First, it was the dining period—when the dining is at its fever pitch. While the school did not feed the student, the student followed the natural routine. No one can have a meal whenever wanted. Of course, there were remissions for light meals and drinks. These periods were for casual discussion and tea time.

The time that Lan Mei called the third year was exactly this fever-pitched dining period, and all she had to say was a few words to deprive him of this time. Of course, it stands to reason that if students couldn't eat the meals when deserved, they still had the opportunity to cook for themselves if they so desired. So it was no problem. At the same time, because today was Friday, some third-year executives were to meet, and other third-year had various meetings to attend. This particular reason would reduce the frequent stroll of third-year students at this period.

Under a few particular trees, Lan Mei sat anxiously. She didn't know how this meeting would turn out, but because I had frequently told her to act herself—the anxious girl had bet everything to it. She had ordered a coffee for herself and a soft drink opposite her. At this moment, a young boy of about eighteen to nineteen years arrived opposite Lan Mei. Lan Mei herself was sixteen years—she was still a minor.

As she saw the person, she stood up and saluted.

"Sorry for calling out senior Yao Yun on short notice."

"It's fine, Miss Mei." He said respectfully.

Yao Yun was burly and paid little attention to appearance. His clothing appeared slightly oversized, hiding his athletic and muscular figure. He also seemed simple-minded and didn't take things seriously.

"What did you want to tell me?" he asked unhurriedly—he played the perfect gentleman.

"It's about Miss Min. She had reached a stage in her physical training and asked me for help: to look out for a suitable instructor. This training had to be private and secret since the person might unintentionally touch her. But she said she wouldn't mind as long as she made progress. In any case, she trusted me for it. So I asked around and found senior Yao among the best in this category. Of course, I also found the president to be also good."

Yao Yun's eyes flickered, and he couldn't wait to jump and verify what he had heard. However, he controlled his unruly demon. But this basic behavior couldn't escape the observant eyes of Lan Mei.

Yao Yun cleared his throat and thought for a moment before he asked.

"When does Miss Min want to do this training? If she doesn't find me distasteful, I will help her." He agreed as he asked his own question.

"This…it is still unknown when she wants this thing to be." Lan Mei answered casually.

"But senior, I want you to help me with something if you don't mind."

"What's that? You can mention it. If it's within my power, I would surely spare no effort to help." At this moment, Yao Yun picked up his drink and opened it with a puff of carbon air. He was in a great mood. This godly circumstance made him chuckle to himself. 'How lovely to teach such an angel and have her in the same space as myself. Not good. She's still a minor.'

"Someone wanted to surprise the president. It is indirectly related to Miss Min too. In any case, the person didn't want me to reveal anything. The only thing is that this thing is not dangerous, but she wanted to surprise the president. The person said I should help her place it in the president's wardrobe where the president hung similar bags because this person thought I had a friend that was particularly close to the president. However, that friend is not accessible, so I can only trust senior Yao for help. Please, I don't know what's inside, and the person said that the president must be the first person to see it first. She swore to me that it was nothing dangerous. It was only a surprise she prepared for the president."

"This—"

"Senior needn't worry. It's a surprise, so you shouldn't tell the president or allow him to notice that you were the one that put it inside. That way, it would be effective. Senior should visit the president with many of his friends for them to act as your cannon fodder. After you do, I will communicate to Miss Min."

After some hesitation, Yao Yun finally agreed.
