Chapter 5 - 5- World’s Away from Home

"Omaira."

I heard a familiar voice. Should I open my eyes?

"Omaira."

There it goes again.

"Omii, you better wake up or I'll pinch you in the butt!"

I opened my eyes and was welcomed by my slightly annoyed sister.

"No, butt pinching please, Fulgar!"

I was welcomed by my sister's crooked smirk. She pulled me out of bed and asked me to follow her.

"But it's waaaayyyy too early." I complained while rubbing my eyes.

"Look, mother told me to wake you up and help you with your magic training." She sighed. "I hate waking up early as much as you do, but I don't want to incur mother's wrath." She scratched her head.

"Fine! Fine!" I pouted. "Why can't mother just teach me instead?!" I asked.

"You know how busy mother is right now. She's dealing an uprising near our territory." Fulgar answered. "She also asked our sisters Vicus and Umbra to assist her." She added.

"Couldn't she do it on her own?" I commented. "She's the Witch of the West! I doubt she needs our sisters to quell that uprising." I just wanted to see all of my sisters while I train and brag about the spells, I copied from them.

Even when I was younger, I always had the knack to experiment with magic, and that includes their magic as well. My elder siblings find my uncanny ability annoying and would often scold me for copying their spells, but I still do it. I was very curious about how their magic worked. How they could manipulate energies and turn a natural phenomenon into a casted spell, powerful enough to level mountains and dry vast oceans.

I followed her into our mother's star garden. It was my favorite place! The stars mother created shined so bright inside an evernight dome. I don't why but I love looking at my spells while inside the star garden. There was something with the darkness that makes the colors of my spells pop-out.

Fulgar and I went to the highest peak and the best view of the garden. She sat on a rock and instructed me to begin my magic training. I began my training with the basic meditation. Sitting down on the ground, I emptied my thoughts and levitated like a feather on the air.

After a few hours of meditation and boredom, Fulgar asked me to use the basic elements. Water ball, air vortex, rock bullet, and my personal favorite fire bolt. But this training was just getting boring. I quit doing it after my 7th try, frustrated and tired with the routine.

I sat on the ground and pouted.

"Bored already?" Fulgar asked.

"Yup!" I answered. "Can you teach me one of your spells?" I pleaded.

Fulgar looked at me and sighed. "Nah, you're not ready for it."

"Not ready?!" I clicked my tongue. "I am more than ready! Come on, Fullio, big sis, you know I can do it!"

"Don't call me, Fullio." She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Fine… I will teach you, but just ONE spell! ONE and nothing more!" She said.

I stood up and hugged her, but she already flew into the air before I could wrap my arms around her. She clicked her tongue and wag her finger telling me that I couldn't touch her at that speed. What a humbug!

"Hey!" I shouted.

"No huggies!" She shouted back at me.

"Fine, Fullio." I said under my breath.

"Alright!" Fulgar smiled. "Watch this!"

She blew air into her hands and rubbed it together. She breathes in deep and clapped her hands together. Lightning bolt shoots out from her hands and hits the rock on the ground.

"Whoa!" I exclaimed.

"Cool right?!" She gave me a smug smile. "Now, figure it out!" She landed back on the ground.

"You won't teach me how it works?" I was both baffled and annoyed at her laziness.

"No." She answered back. "Go ahead and figure that out." Fulgar yawned and laid down on the grass.

I have forgotten how laid back Fulgar was, she smirked at me as she closed her eyes. How would I know her spell if she won't tell me anything about it? Also, she knew very well that I could only make the spell if she gave me the runic speech.

So, what was she thinking leaving me with no idea on how to do it?

"Fine." I gave up on the idea of my sister teaching me and simply challenged myself. "I'll do it myself."

"Good!" She said. "Be sure to wake me up once you're done." She gave me a smug look.

I sat across her and thought about the spell for a while. How does lightning appear anyway? I'm not sure, she wouldn't tell me. But here's what I figured out, she blew air into her palms and rubbed it before clapping her hands.

My sister might be a lazy teacher, but she's cheeky and brilliant. She hid the spell in her breath and only gave me clues through her weird gesture. I need to know what she said. What is the runic speech for lightning?!

I thought about for a while and realize what it was. The heat from her breath is her catalyst to create a cracking energy once she rubbed her hands together. I smiled at her and woke her up.

"I got it!" I said confidently.

"Really now?!" She yawned and rubbed her eyes. "Show me!"

I took a deep breath and clapped my hands. "Fulgar Malleum!"

A jolt of lightning came out from my hands, but it wasn't enough. It wasn't as big as hers. I looked at her with a big smile on my face.

"Wrong." She commented.

"Wrong?!" I was confused. "That was exactly the spell, albeit I still need to practice on the execution!" I reasoned out.

"Tell me about it." She rolled her eyes and went back to sleep.

"Please sister, let me know what was wrong with it, please!" I begged.

She opened one of her eyes and whispered on my ear. "There is nothing wrong with your execution. You just need to know the right runic speech for it to work." She added.

"Really?!" I was dumbfounded. "But I am fully aware I used the right terms."

"You're doing a raw translation of the spell's runic speech." She told me. "Do it again, but this time say Malleus Fulmen!"

I nodded and took her advice. I closed my eyes and imagined a bolt of lightning descending from the heavens.

"MALLEUS FULMEN!" A loud sound of thunder cracked the air.

I opened my eyes and was blinded by the glaring light coming from the ceiling. What just happened? Was I dreaming the entire time? I realized that I was. My dearest sister Fulgar had died a long time ago.

I squinted my eyes, adjusting from the blinding light. What is that? A ball of light shining from the ceiling? Am I at a witch's house? On my left side there was a sharp beeping noise. I turned around and saw a white box with glowing things inside it.

The white box has moving colored lines and runes written all over it. What are these moving lines? Why do they rhythmically jump along with my breathing and heartbeat? What is this covering my nose and mouth? What kind of apparatus is this? It seemed to be giving me pure air.

What happened to me? Damn it! I can't move!

The door opened and a young woman entered the room. But the moment she saw me, she immediately ran out of the room. I heard a short commotion outside before the door opened widely and the child entered.

"The Angel is safe!!!" He said.

So, the child I saved was a boy! What's with his clothing? It looks crisps and clean, like a noble but it's weird looking! Where in the world am I? And what does he mean by Angel? I am no Celestial Being!

Wait… Oh no! Waaaaiiitttt….

How could I understand what he's saying?

"Young Master, I told you to wait for me!" That voice! It sounds just like--

My thoughts were temporarily interrupted when a man wearing a weird black suit came. I was dumbfounded to see him alive!

"Tryste?" That was the first word I uttered. "Tryste you're alive!" I tried to move but my body was in too much pain.

I raised my hand at him before fading out once again.
