Richie's eyes threatened to pop out of his head. Seeing Lin Hao's glaive burst into pieces filled him with fear. In seconds all of their strategy had been reduced to dust.
Lin Hao was barely able to move to preform any attack upon the Cult leader, All of their ranged options had been reduced to dust.
This was not looking good for them.
The cult leader smugly laughed at their struggling, the spell having passed the two minute mark. "Is this all you can do? You were a fool to challenge me in the first place."
Richie concentrated on the cult leader. He couldn't attack him directly, but that didn't mean he couldn't fight indirectly.
He had at-least fifteen good shots he could get in with his coins.
[You are inventing a new skill!]
[Skill] Recurve Coin
[Rank]:0
[Description]
"Launch a coin with a modified surface, capable of bouncing 2-3 times depending on the surfaces it hits."
His index finger brandished the coin, the skill activating and shooting right above the cult leader.
It was aimed directly at a loose piece of wood above the cult leader's head. Successfully, the wood broke off and fell towards the Cult Leader's head.
However, the aura around him protected him from the sudden attack. The wood was immediately cut into pieces upon it landing near the man's head.
But Richie was not idle while this was happening.
Right after the first coin struck the vulnerability in the wood. Richie skipped a second one like a stone. It flew up towards the ceiling, downwards to the floor again.
Upon it's final bounce, it skyrocketed itself towards the cult leader's face, having built up more of an impact.
He could not stop with this one, every coin thrown was an opportunity in the making. There were thirteen left that he could generate so quickly.
Another coin manifested into his left hand, shooting forward at a peculiar angle. It launched itself in a curve towards one of the lit torches but accidentally fell inside of it and burned to ashes.
"Damn. I can't waste any of these!" Richie murmured to himself. He only had seconds between each one before a retaliatory attack could come forth from the Cult Leader.
Every coin had to be spent on building up to the right moment. The proper striking of his blind spot.
Multiple coins were then suddenly flung, five launched themselves in different directions.
They all in unison scattered themselves on the floor, bounced into the adjacent wall near by before two came flying at the Cult Leader's head side. While the other three each came from a different direction.
"All of this is burning my brain..I'm at my limit!" It was the only plan Richie could maintain his focus on for now.
But neither of those with him could support him so easily, he couldn't assume he would obtain their help.
Fu Mei attempted to help Richie create an opportunity, a wave of water began to form itself within her hand.
The water smoothly coalesced itself into a small ball that then shot forward from Fu Mei's hand directly at the Cult Leader.
"Wait! Don't do that, he's just going to reflect it back!" Lin Hao called out, but the attack was never mean't to harm him in the first place.
The ball traveled halfway the distance it was intended, before collapsing like a water balloon mid air. The water itself harmlessly splashing itself against the Cult Leader's face.
"What the." The Cult Leader was taken aback by the harmlessness of the attack itself. Richie's eyes widened again. "His aura, it's doesn't block non attacks!"
It appeared the Cult Leader's aura only protected him against anything it deemed harmful. Fu Mei began to prepare her hands, gathering watery power to coalsce itself in front of her.
Her eyes glowed a shimmer blue as it formed a well of water in front of her, which then began to shoot minor sprays of water directly at the Cult Leader's face.
None of his seemingly magical defenses moved to shield him from this. The sight was comical, the powerful boss being distracted and annoyed by minor water spurts.
Fu Mei couldn't help but mischievously giggle as she channeled the skill.
In the midst of this, Richie prepared a conjoined coin attack, but stopped in the middle of the motion. "No. I have to make this one count, he's already distracted."
He launched one coin in a seemingly unrelated direction, before launching another coin to intercept it's path and force it to bounce another time.
Each consecutive bounce would allow the coin to build more momentum and inflict more damage upon hitting something.
The original coin he sent out kept getting interrupted each second, another coin firing at it to compound it's power.
The coin bounced all over the boss room like a pin ball because of this, while the boss became irritated at the geyser Fu Mei had firing at him. A fatal weak point of his current attack sadly, laid in it's casting time.
He could not do anything, and could only rely on his magical aura to protect him.
