Lin Hao sat down, looking at all of the bodies they had left on the floor. He began to feel uncomfortable inside at this.
This was their first serious fight against a group of people unlike before. Sure, they were evil and they indeed were sacrificing other human beings.
But that didn't make it easier.
Fu Mei and Richie looked coldly at the amount of bodies now splayed all over the floor they were standing on.
Organs and bodily entrails splattered all over the place. The walls and floor desecrated with the marks of their previous battle.
"Sheesh, talk about messy. Someone should call the j-j-janitor!" Richie said attempting to sound like a smart ass.
Fu Mei was relatively silent besides him. All three of them took a moment of silence, none of them breaking it to say anything.
"Let's...Let's keep going. If we didn't kill them. They were going to kill other people anyway." They needed a reason to cling onto, something that would help justify this in their heads.
Lin Hao already began to think of the future. For now they were fighting dumb cultists in the woods, but how long until they fought more reasonable people?
People that weren't evil, but couldn't be made to stand down. Richie moved over to Lin Hao and placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Listen Lin Hao, I know what you're thinking. Oh man, I just killed someone! Well you didn't really kill a person. They're like NPC's in a video game. See?" Richie pointed to their appearances and began to take off their hoods.
Strangely, almost all of them had the exact same appearance.
It was like they were copied and pasted out of a template instead of actually being human beings. But seeing this only filled Lin Hao with more questions than answers.
"Isn't it strange they all look the same? Why is that?" Lin Hao began to analyze their bodies, noticing almost everything was the exact same after a few minutes.
Their body types, their hair colors...Everything about them was taken out of a template and practically copied and pasted into the world.
"You see what I was talking about Lin Hao? I think we're in some kind of game for real. Remember that weird figure we saw? This might really be a game to them."
A game.
Lin Hao remembered the role playing video games he used to play, and everything was matching too much just like one. And just like one, they were rushing off to clear the boss and end the "dungeon."
"There's too much to think about. We need to focus on getting this over with and getting out of here first." Lin Hao said. "We can't just stay here and wonder about things."
The truth was he didn't want to think about it. He didn't want this to get any more complicated than it already was.
But he had a feeling it would.
Fu Mei prepared her cross bow once again, Richie prepared more of his coins and Lin Hao readied his glaive as they descended further into the dark Cultist Fortress.
"Don't you think this is a little too easy?" Fu Mei said.
"Well...We just prepared better than them. They weren't expecting us in the first place, remember?" Richie retorted, it was true that the party had gotten the upper hand on the villains inhabiting this fortress.
How could they see a party of people from earth coming?
Lin Hao kept his glaive at the ready, the party delving deeper into the mysterious fortress. "Man. What do you think we'll get for clearing the boss! I bet we'll get some kind of special treasure man." Richie exclaimed, "Or. Maybe we'll get one another Cubic Power! Just think about it Lin Hao!"
Lin Hao thought back to what the mysterious figure had said.
It was possible for them to obtain separate Cubic Powers besides the one they originally got. He wondered how that would work, but there would be no answers until they obtained another one themselves.
After a few minutes of walking, the party found themselves in front of a large ominous door.
Lin Hao reached his hand, and touched the surface of it. A notification manifested in front of the party.
"This is the boss room, Will you enter? You cannot leave until it is defeated."
"Moment of truth." Richie said.
