Anabelle entered the kitchen and took a seat at the table where her eyes were drawn to a picture of her mother holding Anabelle as a baby. Her grandmother watched her as she picked up the picture and stared at it. She looked quizzically at her grandmother and Marie just stared back. Marie was always a cold woman. If you scraped your knee as a child or feared a rogue, you would get no sympathy from that woman, but she had her qualities. She was a good cook and held her own bout of wisdom.
She sat down opposite Anabelle and silently took the picture from her hand. She proceeded to rip it in half without a word. Anabelle was confused, why would her grandmother have kept a picture of her mother all these years only to rip it in half in front of her?
She asked Marie why she ripped the photo and she simply stated that is what they do with traitors. She asked Anabelle to pledge allegiance to the Blue Moon pack once again and to denounce her brother and mother. This was hard for Anabelle to do as she had never met her mother and she loved her brother.
She didn't see any other option if she wanted to survive now Evan was gone, so she pledges her allegiance to the pack once again. Her grandmother gave her a slice of apple pie and Anabelle played with the pack orphans for a short while and then returned to her home. When she walked in Jenna had a fresh lasagne waiting for her, the kind only reserved for her, Alpha Kevin, and their son. She sat down and happily ate every morsel and made sure her plate was clean.
She washed up and completed her chores, went upstairs, and started her homework. Anabelle was an honors student and did very well with her studies. College was a way out for her, or she thought it was before she was handed the role of future Luna of the Blue Moon Pack. She could maybe still go off to college, get her degree and return and take her position as Luna. She mulled it over while she did her homework.
There was a knock on the door which took Anabelle out of her thoughts. It was Fred her half-brother. He left a sandwich on the desk and left after giving her a smile. This is getting weirder and weirder she thought to herself. With her homework and snack finished she got ready to go to her usual training session in the pack grounds. Her father stopped her at the door and stared at her for a few moments. "You're looking better," he said. "Maybe now you'll be to take a punch". She gulped, nodded, and ran out the door to training.
When she arrived at training there was a different aura in the air. Usually, the fellow pack members would be excited at their chance to let one loose on the tyrant Alphas daughter but today everyone was standing around sheepishly shuffling their feet. No one wanted to partner up with her which had never happened before.
Usually, there were arguments about who got to spar with her. She stood awkwardly at the edge of the training grounds and waited for the pack instructor to start the session. Darren the packs' trainer entered the grounds and had us do laps to start off. When we were all sweating and panting, he had us pair up and spar. The collective groans could be heard all around the grounds.
Then almost instantly everyone bowed their heads. Alpha Kevin was standing at the edge of the grounds. Through the pack link, he sent a message stating that he wanted to watch tonight's training. Anabelle felt nauseous - the Alpha had never supervised training before, why now?
She was paired with a girl roughly her age and size and managed to get one or two punches in before the girl landed her on her back and knocked the wind out of her. When training ended, she packed up and walked home -Alpha Kevin had already left. Overall, it was one of the better training sessions she didn't get as hurt as usual which she was thankful for.
