As they were walking back hand in hand, the lush green forest seemed so peaceful. The sun's rays gently stream through the canopy of tall trees, falling on the moss-covered ground. His large warm hand wrapped gently around hers which seemed small and fragile in comparison.
Everything around them seemed to be in perfect harmony. All that could be heard as they walked in silence was the sound of flowing water from the nearby river, and birds flying above them.
Then Angelica broke the silence, with a question that had been bothering her the whole time.
How does the mind link work? Like you said I'd be able to do it with time…Angelica asked. Well since you're not a werewolf your capability to access those abilities depends on your bond level with your mate. The closer we are, the easier it will be for you. But since I can access those abilities on my own I can tell that you're getting frustrated.
Well, it can be…Angelica muttered under her breath. What can be? Seth asked with concern. All of this, we have known each other about three days now, and already so much has happened, she replied. Believe me, this isn't the way I wanted it to go either, but we can't change what happened. I haven't been handling this the best either, but you still shouldn't have run away! He replied. It was clear from his demeanour, that he was holding back frustration of his own.
You're right, it was wrong of me to run in the middle of an argument, and even more so since I don't know the area and could have easily gotten lost. I'll act more rationally in the future, but you should be more open with me, I'm new to all of this so I need to know what's going on.
The best I can offer at this time is to only share the information that's relative for you to know, he said in a firm manner. Why is that? she asked feeling a bit offended at his cold attitude. Because like you so clearly pointed out we haven't known each other that long and I have to put the needs of my pack first, he said even more determined than before.
Although she did not want to admit it, he was so damn attractive to her when he was domineering. Seeing his love for his people and how determined he seemed to protect them at all costs. They were a responsibility he took on at only fifteen years old. He was an extremely competent man.
I understand, she replied, giving his hand a squeeze.
Time seemed to fly as they were talking after their intense conversation ended, the topic turned to a lighter. The two were bonding over their common love for nature. Before they knew it they were back at the door to his office.
Seth opened the door, and immediately Angelica's eyes locked with hers. There was a woman sitting in Seth's office chair. She had long silky black hair, her skin was fairly engulfed in a light tan. She had beautiful brown eyes. All in all, she kind of looked like the female version of Michel.
Who is this bitch? Angelic thought to herself, forgetting for a moment that Seth can read her mind. Jessica, what are you doing here? Seth asked the woman. Oh, so I guess her name is Jessica, another sarcastic thought slipped in.
I brought the phone you asked me to get, Alpha. She said trying to stare Seth in the eyes, but he wasn't letting her. Seeing this unfold made Angelica feel uneasy. She didn't understand what was going on, but she knew it couldn't be anything good.
Phone? Angelica asked. Seth turned to her, put his hands on both her shoulders and looked her in the eyes. Yes, your phone broke last night, I sent her to buy you a new one. She was this morning before you woke up, along with the others.
Seth's behaviour was strange. Is this about what just happened, Angelica thought, and Seth gave her a small nod, she took this as her sign to intervene? She walked into the centre of the office and held out her hand. Well, I'd like to see it. Angelica said to the woman sitting in front of her locking eyes.
This was a clear challenge, Jessica wanted to rip her throat out, but she couldn't with Seth there. She turn the chair got up slowly with the phone in hand and walked over to Angelica. She placed the phone in angelicas hand.
We haven't been introduced yet. I'm Jessica Steel, nice to meet you! She said putting on her best fake smile. Angelica Ryder. It's interesting that you have the same surname as Michel, Angelica replied.
That's because she's my little sister, Michel said from the doorway. Sorry to interrupt, I was just looking for her. Come now, Jess!
It's a shame we couldn't talk longer, we should hang out sometime. Jessica said quickly before disappearing down the corridor along with Michel. Seth walked into the office, closed the door, and went over to sit down at his desk.
The entire encounter may have seemed civil, but it felt like angelica had a pit in her stomach. She was so overly comfortable with Seth, and most pack members won't even come near him! This along with what happened earlier. It can't mean anything good.
