I couldn't move. Like my body held frozen in time as the amulet zinged even harder. My father was the first to climb down the carriage to greet the king and queen while I remained unmoving in my place. Quickly, I snatch the shawl laying idly next to me and wrapped it over my shoulders, hoping the glow coming from the amulet won't seep through the layers of fabric.
Damn! What the hell is going on? Why is the amulet reacting this way?

"Fuck!" A startled shrill came forth instinctively when a voice rang near me. Whipping my head callously, the caught off guard standing right and the carriage's doorstep, while still holding it for me. His eyes were wide, in befuddlement at the profanity hurled at him.
