[Vereena]
Callum stared at me with befuddlement gleaming in his eyes, taken aback by what I just said. Though I could sense he was deliberating, his mind fighting. Then he suddenly got off me, shaking his head.
"You're not thinking very well, caileag."
I scowled at his response, watching him stand up, pad across the quarters, and plucked out his shirt he hung on the chair right next to the table. Did I say something wrong? Pang and humiliation struck me, but I tried to mask my contempt. It is not like it is customary for a lady to ask a man to take her to bed. Frowned upon and scandalous even. In fact, none of what we are doing would be considered appropriate in the society in which I was raised. But who are you to pass judgment on me? We are in the middle of the ocean, away from prying eyes.
