[Vereena]
It feels like the roast lamb I knocking back at the back of my throat with dread. Callum held out his hand while he stood at the trap door, coaxing me to take a step forward and meet the rest up the deck. I don't know if this was going to be a good idea, because, for me, it is not. It feels like I am going directly into the jaws of eternal damnation. Not that I am exaggerating, but it does feel like it.
"Don't worry, caileag. They won't hurt you," he said, stepping down and taking my hand.
"It's not that I am afraid of them, but it's about what they will say about me," I frowned, biting my inner cheeks, contemplating whether I would still go up there, or just stay down at my quarters.
"Does it matter?"
"Of course, they became my friends," I say, rolling my eyes knowing that the answer to his question is already apparent.
