Chapter 3 - 00:00:03

"What makes up society?" was one of the questions my former professor asked me when I presented one of Kafka's works, 'The Metamorphosis. Society is made up of humans; it reeks of humanity at the same time it reeks of unfairness. It is both fair and unfair at the same time. There is no in-between. Social stratification, which trampled on many lives and is always present no matter which era you were born in,Even if there may be equality in access to resources, rank societies are characterized by inequality in access to recognized prestige statuses. The political or power sphere is where ranking is most obvious. Even here, in this world that I am currently inhabiting, social stratification is present. In the novel, Ashish is the son of a wealthy marquis. People in the nobility are not favored by Ashish's relationship with the Royal family as the Prince's secretary; however, Ashish in the novel proved them wrong. He is talented and intelligent; one may argue how Ashish was classified as intelligent. As Howard Garnder pointed out in his theory, 'Multiple Intelligences, that humans are intelligent in different ways, Ashish is someone who possesses knowledge and knows how to use that knowledge, an individual who can adapt to changes in his surroundings and calmly make decisions in the midst of a crisis. That is how Ashish was portrayed in the novel; his family's whereabouts were briefly mentioned. And I think I know why. Ashish is not the hero or the main protagonist of the novel; he is one of the hero's comrades, and so little information is revealed in the novel.

I sighed. My head hurts. After the fiasco in the dining hall this morning, I never set foot outside again. I spent the whole day in my room, writing and remembering everything I had read in that novel. From time to time, the maids knocked to bring refreshments and foods, but I did not pay attention to them. In the past, I've read 'Mageia Academy' as a means of escaping my reality. It is one of those cliche stories about the hero defeating evil, but I do love the transition of the plot. The characters were well written. I remembered reading this novel when one of my students recommended it to me, and since I wanted to relate to that student, I took my time and decided to read it. In the end, it found its way into my heart and became one of my means of escaping reality.

I drank the tea and encircled one of the pieces of information written on the paper. Elementals. People in Alka were born with attributes. Fire, Air, Water, and Earth were the main attributes; however, due to changes and development, other attributes have been discovered. The attributes of ice, plants, and metal; the rarest attribute is lightning. The first emperor is the only one who has the lightning attribute, as Alka's citizens believed that the royal family is a descendant of dragons. However, the rest of the royal family did not inherit the lightning attribute. The second most powerful attribute is fire, which the Royal family proudly possesses. The hero in the novel is someone who can wield two attributes. It was revealed in the novel that the hero's father is a powerful magician who is the right hand of the first emperor. However, many people, especially in the nobility, are jealous of the hero's father, and so they plot his death. In order to save his son, he asked a maid to take care of the hero and leave the Alka palace. In the novel, the hero discovers the truth, which motivates him to do his best in the Academy. One of the important things that I have to take note of is that towers exist in this place. The tower was created by the demon lord and was meant to be destroyed by the people of Alka. With challenges, tests, and rewards, the tower is made to trample on humans' greed and dreams.

The gods and goddesses took pity on humans when the demon lord displayed his power as the demon lord and almost killed the whole human race. The gods and goddesses granted and blessed the people with attributes. These attributes can be inherited or directly granted by the gods and goddesses. Which brings me to my present situation: why don't I possess an attribute? I stared at my own hands. I don't believe in coincidences. Everything happens for a reason, and I know that I am here for a certain reason. Did God grant my wish? That would be funny.

Mageia Academy is a good novel with a happy ending, but it is also a story full of war and death. I intend to live until the demon lord is conquered. My goal is to build my own coffee shop and library, and in order to do that, I have to survive. In my past life, just dreaming to achieve this dream is a luxury. I always wanted to build my own cafe and library and happily greet my customers. Don't get me wrong, being a teacher is not bad but it became a burden to me. In the past, I am someone who have to work in order to earn and survive that's why I really do not have the means to let my dream become my reality.

I stood up and went outside the balcony. "I will not live in regret anymore", I murmured. The wind blew, and the moon shone brightly. I have to pass the test. The test will take place at Tower Level 1. With the knowledge of what will happen in the novel, I intend to pass the test and enter the Mageia Academy.
