Chapter 76 - Ch.76 Tea with Ted and Vacation plans

Ted and I walked out of the store with our bags of clothes. I was still thinking about what Ted had said, and I was just trying to understand if he was right? As we were walking, we saw a huge crowd in front of Florian's store.

Ted and I looked at each other, and we decided to have a look. As we got closer, we could hear the chatter of the crowd along with what seemed like commentary. Ted and I stood in front of the store, and it was Illusionarium. The whole front of the store glass had been converted into that.

The sides of the glass were showing ads for the products inside and the Illusionarium while the front of the glass was showing moving pictures. Ted looked at it and said, "Guess they are on sale now, huh?"

A man standing next to him asked, "Yeah, but what is it? Is it like the Walkman?"

Ted scoffed and said, "It's showing movies, how can it be like the Walkman..." the man glared at him and I said, "It's like T.V." He looked curiously along with other bystanders and I explained to them, "This thing shows you movies and programs for entertainment, education, information. Everything."

They didn't understand, so Ted had to simplify it more, and he said, "Like we all read the newspaper, right?"

They all nodded, "Suppose there is an article about this conversation that we are having right now, and it's written there. If someone wanted, they can capture this conversation, word for word and put it on there with you moving and all."

They still didn't understand I said, "You could watch, quidditch match, from your home... even if they were happening in Belarus."

And they understood it, Ted sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, and they all started to walk into the store and in a hurried frenzy and Ted said, "Of all the things I said and Quidditch is the thing that gets them through the door?"

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Hey, it's easier to explain something new if you compare it to something they know... although newspaper wasn't such a bad analogy."

He sighed and said, "Let's just go." He started walking, and I looked at the store and wondered if Florian had completed the whole project.

--------------------------------------------------------

We walked inside a tea shop and a waiter came and led us to a small table near the windows, we sat down and Ted said, "Would you like the wizard special?"

I looked at him and asked, "What's that?"

He was enthusiastic and said, "It's Buttercream Scones, Finger sandwiches with toad thighs and a mudslide cauldron cake."

I shook my head, and he chuckled and said, "Just plain scones and egg sandwiches please and do you have tea from Assam?"

The waiter nodded and Ted smiled and said, "Perfect, that'll be all for now."

The waiter walked away and Ted asked, "So you were saying that you were bored?"

I nodded and said, "Yeah, aren't you? I mean, what are you doing?"

He shrugged his shoulders and said, "The usual research, Chronomagic, is nothing to scoff at." He looked at me and sighed and said, "If you are bored, do something."

I scoffed a little and asked, "Like what?"

He looked around and said, "Ah, travel somewhere... you did say that you were going to travel."

I pursed my lips and said, "Yeah, but that's not happening any more, since Florian got that TV of his... no reason to go now."

He chuckled and said, "Yes, there is..." I looked at him, and he said, "For relaxation? I mean, how hard can it be, pick somewhere warm and just go."

I squinted at him and questioned, "Why are you so adamant about me going away?"

He was about to say something, but the tea arrived, and he waited until the waiter was gone and said, "Because, you have been working... ever since I've known you. You have always been working, one thing or another. I wanted to say something before, but you are obsessed with your work, and it's not healthy."

He sighed and looked at me with sincere concern and said, "You should take some real time off, while you have the chance."

I sighed and fiddled with my fingers and said, "I don't know. What if someone needs me? I do have things that I have to do... like that interview you mentioned."

He scoffed and said, "Yeah, like it would be hard for you to get here."

I rolled my eyes and I looked at him and thought about it for a moment and there was one place that I had been meaning to visit, and I said, "I think I'll do it..."

He smiled and nodded, "Yes! Finally, you get it... where are you going? The Caribbean? Hawaii? Greece is good."

I looked at him and said, "Germany."

He looked confused and asked, "What? Why?"

I looked at him and said, "It's my ancestral home... I would like to connect with my ancestors."

He looked at me confused, but within a few moments he understood it and banged the table and said, "NO! It's the total opposite of what I said you should do."

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Germany is a good place to visit. Maybe I'll go to Munich?"

He sighed and said, "Why must you always do this? There is no reason to go there and meet him."

----------------------------------------------------

After the afternoon tea with Ted, I visited his home so that I would have access to it. After that, I went back home. I understood Ted's concerns, but it's not like I can't enjoy my trip and meet with my great Uncle?

As I walked inside, Jeely came to greet me, and she said, "Master, there is someone here to visit you. I've made them comfortable in the study."

I nodded and smiled, "Prepare some tea and snacks for the guest." She nodded and popped off.

I made my way to the study and I saw Ed sitting on the sofa with a magazine in his hand. He looked at me and put it down and said, "Ah, you're here finally!"

I tilted my head slightly, and I sat down in front of him on a chair and asked, "It's a bit of a surprise to meet you here, Ed?"

He raised his eyebrows and smiled, "Am I not welcomed?"

I rolled my eyes and said, "Yes."

He chuckled and said, "I bring good news." Jeely appeared with Tea and served him a cup.

I nodded, and he took a sip and said, "You have got an interview with Glenda Chittock, during the witching hour."

I nodded, and he looked sad with my lack of enthusiasm, and he said, "It would be broadcasted on the WBN's first ever Video broadcast."

My eyes widened at that comment, and he smiled and said, "Yes, that's what I wanted." He reached into his clothes and said, "This is the contract and the question they will ask."

I took it and started to read it, and it was pretty straight forward, "They want you perform something on the show... to show your juju."

I rolled my eyes and turned the page and said, "They want to confirm that it's me who sang all this..."

He nodded and pursed his lips and I said, "Okay... when?"

He looked at me and said, "It's in 3 days..."

I looked at him and asked, "Will this be on the radio as well?"

He nodded, and I said, "Alright then."
