As soon as Brandon stepped in, the silence that filled the whole place was awkward to say the least. It just felt like as soon as he stepped in, he sucked out all of the air that was around the room. He stared at his father and Emily who were currently sitting at the dining table and wondered what they were talking about.
He hadn't seen them this close before but he wasn't surprised because since they were in-laws, they were bound to have a relationship. Brandon looked between Emily, his wife and his father, wondering what they might be talking about. He badly wanted to know what they've been talking about but the last thing he would do was to ask them.
Brandon didn't want them, especially Emily to think that what was going on between them affected him. He wanted her to think that he wasn't bothered about it when in reality, he was crushed.
