"Two people?... One is dangerous." Girium didn't know how strong this bomb was. But he was still in a hospital and even a small explosion can cause the death of many patients and injure many others.
To him, nothing is eviler than harming the defenseless.
This was even more inhumane than he thought this city was..
So holding the spear that was always by his bedside. Girium aimed it at the second man who was doing nothing.
To his understanding, the man setting up the bomb was just following orders. And those that walk a transcendent path would never be bothered to learn such skills in their whole life. To them, all that matters was strength and they can force others with the skills to do their bidding.
Just like it was happening below. It was this reason Why Girium chose the second man.
"Remember Giri, an army without a leader is a body without ahead. So cut off the head and see the rest of the body flail around like a headless chicken."
This was why Girium showed no mercy with his attack as he threw his spear.
Aiming straight at the place where he predicted the leg of that man will be. And the spear traveled in an instant, following that trajectory, easily slicing the whole right leg of the man.
As for why he targeted the leg?
He didn't wish for this man to run. He wished to know, who was this audacious to do something so evil to a hospital.
So, through the small hole in the floor, Girium ordered.
"Don't move."
*****
The job was simple, learn the habits of their target through eyes set up in the hospital from the start. And first, prepare a poison trap.
But it was not a killing blow, finding a poison capable of killing a transcendent so fast is impossible. So they went with the next best option. They would make him paralyzed for a whole day.
A poison that will act at around 6 in the evening. Also, the time for the shift changed in the hospital and Girium's security. Which makes it a perfect window for their next attack.
While paralyzed and no one is active to act fast on the scene to help Girium. They will blow him off with a very tightly built explosive with multiple metal bearings in it.
An explosion like that will shred the defenseless body of Girium, even if he was bulletproof.
In case he survived, William was there to finish the job and escape the chaos that will be created by the explosion.
A perfect plan with a high rate of success. The hardest part was to find a way to smuggle explosives and a transcendent assassin into the hospital.
Which was fixed by using the sewer system to enter the hospital.
A dirty and narrow place, but Willian was used to it due to the nature of his job.
He had a total of 4 successful hits and go undetected at the end, this would be his fifth one, and chances of success increased the moment he was able to enter the hospital and find a change of clothes not so far from him.
After this, finding the man who would set up the explosive from the parts he smuggled was easy. That man was a mortal, easily able to ignore the eyes of Bear Bastards, and met with him just below Girium's room.
The same was true for the woman he handed the poison balm. She already had her directions and knew what to do. Because if she doesn't, the people behind William won't appreciate her as much and she may find some of her kids missing.
Hence the plan was in full form, everything was going smoothly. He had already confirmed the poisoned bowl had been handed to Girium and the bomb was being set up.
But, these dreams of a successful hunt came to a halt as a spear broke upon the ceiling and ripped off his right leg in a single strike.
It neither stabbed him nor impaled him, it directly ripped off his right leg and then traveled to more floors below, before coming to half at the basement where William first walked out.
"Nooo!" He cried as his body fell to the floor and the wound on his waist started to bleed profusely.
He knows, he had messed up.
That spear, that strength, only an owner of an artifact is capable of that.
On the other side, the man setting up the bomb was left scared seeing the state of his 'boss'.
He was just here to follow orders and go home safely until the bomb explodes.
"What are you waiting for… take me out of here." William was not foolish. He was shaken by his mutilated leg. But more than that, he was scared of the man who just ordered him not to move.
Getting out of this place was more important. That man was injured and can't move much and it will take time for the security to reach this place. Providing enough windows for them to either hide or run away.
This meant that the chance of success might not even reach 10%, but something was better than nothing. And he didn't wish to die for a job.
His assassination routine was just a job he picked up during his retirement. He never planned to die for it.
But things don't always go as expected. The bomb expert panicked and ignored the crippled William while running away from the scene, leaving William alone to fend for himself.
"Shit… this fucking bastard…" he cursed his luck while dragging his body with his body to leave the area. But a trail of blood was still left in his wake.
Making him understand that without first dealing with that bleeding leg, his chances of escape will be always zero
And from the sounds of the steps coming toward him, he knows his fate was sealed up.
So if he was going to die anyway, he might as well explode that bomb and harm that bear-like man as much as he could.
This will be his revenge.
So he picked up the switch of the bomb from his pocket and slowly opened his safety switch.
"I shouldn't have taken this job." He said intending to click it.
But before he could do it, a hand cashed through the ceiling and caught the ball stuck to it before dragging it back up.
Leaving a giant hole in it, which was followed by a loud explosion close to the hospital.
And from that hole, he can see the man.
His hands were dusty due to the rubble and his eyes twisted with disgust toward him.
It was not anger, but pure disgust.
Those eyes were the last thing William remembers before losing consciousness.

"We are very sorry for our carelessness."
Girium silently listened to Teerath apologize once again. Zig, who was meant to protect him didn't speak much and had disappeared from the scene after 'others' arrived to take over the three prisoners. Which also included a hospital nurse.
Much to the people's dismay.
The dangerous precedence it sets can be talked about later. The primary concern was satiating Girium's anger.
An Anger that was not pronounced on Girium's face. He remained stoic. Acting as if the thing that had happened was not as traumatizing.
But this was true as well, the true trauma was probably faced by the assassin, losing his leg in an instant and then having his bomb plot be thwarted by Girium in a leisurely manner.
Such a beastly human might traumatize anyone. And nothing was worse than his no-kill policy.
Or so Teerath had come to learn.
This man might not kill people, but he will also not leave them with a good life.
Fortunately, he was never an enemy of this man.
"In the account of these recent events, our boss has decided to bring you directly to our current home base for your security."
Girium's legs were still not healed and any movement might cause damage to him. So the best option was still to send him to a place that is filled with their people.
But the response Girium gave him was something entirely else.
"Inform me when he wakes up," Girium said, before going to sleep on his bed, ignoring the two holes on the floor next to his bed and the black spear that Teerath brought to him after cleaning up the flesh and rubble from it.
'Weird guy.'

On the other side of the city. After learning about the failure of their plan. The Governor of the city started to panic.
His nephew, who was the Mayor, had come to him with the news and both belonged to the Restvil family.
"Uncle, we have to hide for a while, loosen some of the pressure on Bear Bastards, or they will get suspicious." Natak Restvil, who was also the mayor of Goldfern city suggested. Knowing full well when to back down.
"What choice do we have left? But giving them time to rest will in turn increase their strength. And we can't have that." Being the current head of the Restvil family, he knows that their control over this city will loosen with time if not done properly.
All his years of service in the military to acquire the seat of Governor in his hometown. Rigging the elections to have his nephew win and asking the help of an old friend who had become an artifact user.
Everything was going perfectly. Until Sia came to ruin his plan.
"Jacob might be on our side. But at the end of the day, he is someone not part of our family and can't be trusted." Oligar said, his voice not showing a bit of shame while talking about his friend like this.
"Our family needs to have their own God Construct. We can't always be dependent on the strength of others."
"So bring all the young ones, we will leave for Vishpul in a few days."
