"Are you sure sir, this is the right approach?"
It took a whole day before the police arrived on the scene followed by the news crew. At which point, the gang knew it was their time to leave.
They already had their talks with the police chief and they won't mind the destruction that happened in this place.
The government was already finding it hard to hide the incidents of this nature away from the public eyes, so they accepted the help of anyone that came to lighten the load on them.
All the government will do is bury the dead and note down all the orphans. before shifting all of them to an orphanage which was run by the BB gang, which was short for "The Bear Bastards".
"I may not be as strong as sir, nor do I have the right to criticize you after failing so badly."
"But that man… he is dangerous."
Teerath spoke his mind at last.
The choice Zig made yesterday had been eating away in his mind for a while and he wondered if he should say something or not.
One should not forget that their organization was not a formal one. It was a gang made up of social rejects and led by the biggest social reject of the surrounding district.
The hierarchy was to be followed without mistake and in that hierarchy, it did not look good when someone of lower rank spoke to an upper rank in that manner.
But those rules only applied in normal situations. And to Teerath's luck, this situation was far from normal.
"I know… But we have no choice." Zig said, obviously frustrated with the situation he found himself in.
All he wished for was a god construct of his own. Never in a million years did he think that someone like Girium would fall into his bosom.
"That man… he would follow us even if I had denied his request," Zig explained.
He has met people like Girium before, the hounds that pursued just a single goal in their life. Even if it meant that they would face death.
So Zig relented if Girium wished to die so much. Let him die.
Even if Teerath's claims were true and Girium succeeded in destroying the God Construct on his own, it doesn't mean he would be able to fight someone who has already mastered the power of those godly weapons.
It would also give them initiative by bringing him to their boss directly.
"I don't know, boss. But that still doesn't seem like a wise choice."
Teeth said while shaking his head. Being the only witness to the destruction of theGod Construct, he knew the power that man possessed.
And let a man like that near another god construct, no less one owned by his boss, didn't sit right with him.
*****
Girium sat all alone in the jeep as they were driven towards the Goldfern city. Why was he alone?
He already knew the answer. The group of men that were chaperoning him were scared of him. Including their boss.
A familiar sight for him. This has happened before and it will happen in the future.
Those who possess strength are either respected for it or feared over it. In his case, due to his introverted personality, it was the latter.
Even the words on the other jeep reached his ears. Making him understand what was going on in their mind.
But to Girium's amusement, he knew that the words that these men spoke about him dying under the hands of their boss might turn out to be true.
He had never fought an actual God Construct Holder. He was even ignorant of the power they possessed. Girium was someone who had never fought a person in his whole life.
So his chance of success might be low. Super low.
But if that was his fate, then so be it. This is the path he has chosen and he will see it to its end.
Whether he succeeds or not, doesn't matter.
"Hmm?" But it seemed that the fight he was looking forward to would need some time. As Girium noticed someone staring in the direction of the jeeps.
And these gazes seemed to contain bloodlust in it.
"Hmm… Stop. Enemies are here." Girium didn't bother for the jeep to stop. He didn't even check whether his words had reached the ears of his driver properly.
All he did was jump from the jeep gently and stop.
And as expected, those jeeps at the front faced explosive traps that threw the vehicle into the air. While those behind it stepped on the breaks as hard as they could.
"Hmm…" Girium wondered whether he should take part in the upcoming fight or not.
If he did, then the casualties might be reduced among these men.
And he already knew that they were not evil men. These men were good at heart.
There was no reason to not help them. They were even leading him to another God construct.
But his thoughts were stopped as the guns started to rain down bullets on everyone. With most of it focused on Girium. Much to his surprise.
Deflecting the bullets easily with his spear. He turned toward the bushes where the fire originally started.
"What is happening? No one said Zig was so fast… Did he already master the power of God Construct?" Haisel thought as jealousy clouded his mind.
Haisel was from the rival gang of Bear Bastards, called Dragon Star Clan.
As for why this haughty name? They chose a noble-sounding name to better integrate with the culture of Goldfern City. And it worked, for years they were the sole owner of the underworld of Goldfern city.
Until a crazy person came and as if to mock their noble name, that person made a gang with a vulgar name. Which was the gang they were firing at the moment.
"Don't stop firing, we have them in our clutch." Due to the distance and the burned skin on Girium, Haisel confused him with Zig. A belief supported by the fact that the God Construct discovered in that village was thunder-based, which would explain that inhuman speed.
"That spear… I want it." He thought, ready to jump into the fight and snatch the dark spear out of Girium's hand.
But soon he stopped his actions as it seemed the Bear bastards were fighting back and there was a familiar figure advancing toward the place where they were shooting from.
*****
"Seems they are in control." Girium slowly walked in front of the shooting and shielded the injured who were not able to hide when the shooting initially began.
His speed was not fast, but his hands were steady. And to the surprised faces of everyone. He kept deflecting bullets using the butt of his spear in a leisurely manner.
"Are you alright?" he asked the man with a hole in his thigh. If Girium is recalled correctly, this much damage won't kill a person. But if bleeding won't stop on time, it will be harmful to one's health.
"No... I don't know." The man, still shells shocked by the events, said while being out of his mind. He didn't even notice the bleeding on his foot. Nor Girium had the time to tend to it.
Which left Girium with only one choice.
Holding the man like baggage, he led him behind the car, while deflecting the bullets that came his way.
And while doing that, he picked up two more men who were struggling all alone.
This much weight on his body won't impact his speed in any way. So he didn't mind helping those that needed it.
*****
"*Boom."
Haisel was far away from his men and holding the angered Zig back.
He was surprised the man he originally focused on was not Zig. But someone else.
"Who is that?... Did you lose the God Construct to that man?" Haisel mocked, laughing at the fate of his rival while he dodged another shot fired from Zig's gun. But in truth, he was worried over the situation as well.
The trap they set up didn't seem to work properly. And that extra element who was going along the Bear bastard's also didn't look easy.
So Haisel understood that the correct approach in this situation would be to leave this place and retreat.
He only came here thinking an injured Zig who had not mastered his weapon would be easy picking.
But before he could plan for a retreat. A disaster struck his men.
"Enough." Shouted Girium, annoyed by the bullets.
With a single swipe of his spear, he broke the guns of his men. Accidentally breaking the hands of some who were holding their guns tightly due to the momentum.
"Stop this, if you care for your life." And then, Girium pointed his spear at Haisel, as well as Zig.
Who stood there. Wondering what he did wrong.
Knowing Girium, he stopped his actions.
He had been fighting Haisel for a long time. And he has never defeated him due to his speed. This is why he looked forward to the storm dagger so much.
But Haisel was not like him. He didn't know who Girium was and why he was there.
So he did something he shouldn't have done in the presence of Girium.
He attacked Zig, even after Girium's warning.
