Alex was surprised when Vanessa reluctantly gave an affirmative nod to his request.
"Really?" He asked to reconfirm if indeed she was agreeing to him buying something for Sophia because he wasn't sure.
He had hoped for a good reply, but he was utterly surprised when she easily nodded. Given Vanessa's personality he had expected some initial objection and he was prepared to make a bit more effort for Sophia's sake. He had seen her school accessories and he believed they needed prompt replacement.
Vanessa took a quick look at him and nodded again as she said, "Yes."
Alex tried not to blink in surprise, but a small smile tipped up his lips. "Thank you." He said surprising Vanessa who turned and observed him.
He seemed genuinely happy to do this. Her lips parted to say something but she was interrupted when one of the sales person in the shop approached them.
