Alex took a quick look at Vanessa who had her head turned from him and her eyes fixed on the view outside the window, but despite her looking away he could make out the crease lines from the sideview of her face.
'Alex is cruel.' He had heard her say and those words hadn't stopped reverberating inside his head in a way he didn't want them to.
He had had several people call him far worse but none had mattered, and none has ever bothered him until now, and Alex had no doubt this was her affecting him again.
There was some way she seemed to bother him — some sort of Vanessa-effect she had on him. She plagued his mind in a way he didn't want to, and even right now, the furrow lines on her brows were boggling him as he believed there was something on her mind — something that involved his name and she was trying so hard not to confront him about it, probably because Sophia had asked her not to.
