Immediately the closing bell rang, Sophia sprang up from her seat like everyone else in the classroom and picked up her school bag ready to run past everyone else, but before she could do that Tyler held her hand.
"Is the driver coming to take you to the hospital? I'm coming with you," Tyler said, and Sophia shook her head.
"No. I'm going home to change my clothes and get something for Vanessa to eat," Sophia lied.
Alex had texted her to inform her that he had taken Vanessa home and there was no need for her to return to the hospital, and since there was no way she could explain this to Tyler without revealing the secret that Vanessa was also living with her boss, she had to come up with a story that would convince Tyler.
"Alright. Let's go home then. I will assist you in fixing something for her," Tyler suggested, and Sophia shook her head.
"No. You don't have to," Sophia insisted.
