Sophia's gaze made a quick dart between Vanessa and Alex, her eyes keenly observing the way they oddly evaded each other's gaze.
Alex's gaze was fixed on a spot slightly above Vanessa's head while Vanessa....well, was just staring.
"Good evening, Mr Moore." Vanessa greeted.
"Good evening. Welcome back." Alex greeted back, his eyes finally meeting her face.
"How was your day?" He asked surprising himself, and he could almost register the same surprise on Vanessa's face but whatever he thought he saw suddenly disappeared as she blankly replied.
"Fine." She turned to Sophia who had an odd look on her face. "You guys can get started on dinner. I might take a while before I join you." She said, and without wasting any more time, she walked past Alex, who didn't fail to notice how she had stiffened her shoulders so as to not brush pass him, it wasn't as if he was standing in her way.
