Siegren felt as if he was drowning. The viscosity of the portal made him feel breathless as if he was underwater. His squinted eyes slowly opened as the water-like consistency eased. Light shone in front of him and as the water completely vanished, he was able to walk into that light and exit to another.
Welcoming him was another forest; however, this time, he felt no enchantment. The trees were at their regular sizes, and the sun was now shining brightly through the gaps in the leaves. The first thing that sparked his attention was the earthy air. As Siegren stepped into the soil, Lumi was the first to go. Her feet shuffled through the detritus, and as the wind whistling around the trunks died down finally, he looked back.
The portal was now gone as if it wasn't even there in the first place. There was no trace of elven magic left, and it was expected in an elf that was over a hundred years old. She knew how to erase her trail marks.
