"Hey, George? What the hell happened to your face? An accident at work?"
"That's rude, Mark! Hey George, Hi Andrea,"
George realized that he could not hide the fact that Thomas had woken up or that he was the one who had hit him. So instead of looking for an excuse, he said straightforwardly,
"Yeah, no. Thomas mutated and beat the crap out of me." He was upset about it, but there was nothing he could do about it. George remembered that Thomas had great respect for Mark and Stephany, so maybe the two of them could scold him a little. He would probably listen if the two of them took his side.
They entered the house in silence. They were both shocked.
"The mutation came in adulthood? "
They were both excited to see him. And the fact that he defeated George means that his mutation must be strong! George is an experienced hunter, so people should not underestimate him.
Andrea invited them both to the guest room for tea.
"I am sorry, I did not have anything else prepared today," Andrea apologized. But both Stephany and Mark just shook their heads.
"No, no. That's all right. It's our fault for coming uninvited," Mark said.
"I heard...that Thomas had an accident...." said Stephany. Her eyes kept wandering around the room. She could not concentrate because she wanted to see Thomas.
"Ha, that brat. Can you imagine? He tried to kill himself. What is wrong with that kid. Sometimes I wonder what I did wrong."
Andrea shook her head. She thought both Mark and Stephany would agree with her.
'What's wrong with you!" They thought they could not understand how a mother could say such a thing about her son's suicide attempt? That's just wrong!
"And more. After taking Thomas out of the hospital, he did not listen to our teachings but dared to attack us. We spent two days in the hospital because of him. George almost lost his arm!" she continued to complain. But instead of agreeing with her, Stephany and Mark understood why Thomas would do such a thing. If she talks about her son like that in front of others, what does she do when they are alone!
"Could you maybe call him? I'd like to see him." Stephany continued to smile. But in her head, she cursed Andrea for being a terrible mother, and not only that. She also cursed her for being deranged.
"Well, you know...where Thomas' room is."
Andrea did not feel like dealing with Thomas' current tantrums.
"Oh, I'd love to!" Mark smiled and went straight to Thomas' room. He bought Thomas the latest model of the space ring. Inside it was three cubic meters of space! And inside was a phone, a computer, and a game console. Most of these gifts were meant for Clara. But because of her behavior, they decided to give them to Thomas. Clara was not left without a gift. Now that she is an adult, Mark still insists on buying her a car. Although Stephany was against it, Mark did not change his mind. She is now an adult and can drive to school on her own!
"Thomas, my boy. I brought presents!" Mark called out as he knocked on Thomas' door.
Thomas heard a loud knock at the door, so he quickly opened the door and saw Mark, who smiled and held a storage bag in his hand. Then he eyed Thomas from head to toe. Thomas took his time but soon recognized the person in front of him.
"Wow, look at you! All grown up!" said Mark. He was thrilled to see Thomas because they had not spoken to each other in months. The last time Mr. Miller saw him. Thomas was depressed but look at him now. He's smiling. This mutation has done him good.
"Yes! Long time no see," replied Thomas. He began to smile. This moment was one of Thomas's rare times after his reincarnation.
"Those ears look good on you! Haha, hey, a quick question. What about your human ears?" Mark began to laugh. He was fascinated to see such a unique mutation.
"Gone, completely burned off when I mutated." He pointed to his head. The place where his human ears should be was empty. Only hair was in that spot. Anyway, where is Aunt Stephany? I want to meet her!"
"She's in the guest room waiting for you. Like I said. I brought you some presents!" Mark smiled. He handed Thomas a storage bag. Storage bags are really expensive. One costs at least five gold coins. A normal silver rank adventurer would earn one gold weekly, two if the week were good.
"Storage bag? No, I can not. That's too much." He could not accept such an expensive gift, but he had no use for it. He already possessed space-type magic.
"What do you mean too much," he began to laugh again. "I brought you not only a memory but also a computer, the latest model phone, and a game console. I did not know what kind of games you liked, so Andrea and I decided to take you shopping!"
Thomas felt happy. Is this how parents should behave? Clara does not know how lucky she is. For a moment, Thomas felt sad thinking about his birth parents. But soon, he relaxed again and went to his Aunt Stephany. He ran up to her and hugged her. Unlike his mother's hug, this hug was sincere. He was so happy to see her that tears came unconsciously.
"Oh, dear. I missed you too, Thomas," she hugged him. She could not hold back her tears either and hugged him even tighter. After that, Thomas looked at his mother and asked her to leave the guest room so Thomas and Aunt Stephany could have some time to themselves with Uncle Mark.
"So Thomas, have you been to your mutation registration yet?" asked Mark curiously.
"Yes. I have the S rank in talent and energy!" said Thomas, proud of himself.
"Wait, wait, wait. Are you serious?" Stephany and Mark were shocked.
"Yes, I can use magic too. I heard that I am the first case of this kind." Thomas boasted.
"We are so happy for you!" they did not ask him. They knew he would not lie to them.
"Please keep the storage bag; I have no use for it because I can use spatial magic. Soon I will learn the storage spell too!" he insisted on returning the storage bag. He does not know the storage spell yet. But he is sure that he will learn it soon.
"Are you telling the truth? You know you do not have to make up stories to make us proud. We were proud of you before you mutated, and we are even prouder now. Spatial magic is rare even among the most powerful mages." said Mark. He did not want to question him, but knowing spatial magic seemed far too convenient. He thought it was an excuse for Thomas to refuse their gift.
"Anyway, I know a really good cafe. Would you like to accompany me? It will be my pleasure!" Thomas decided to spend the rest of his savings. He'll join the hunters' guild to get quick cash if he needs money. And because of his high rank, he knows he would be able to enter a higher rank dungeon, which meant he would get even more gold coins per day than his parents combined in a month.
"No. No, you should not waste your money," Stephany declined his offer.
"She is right. You are still a child. Let us pay. Let's go. I'll drive! You can show me the way," Mark smiled.
"No, we do not need a car,"
Thomas smirked, gathering his space energy and forming it into a portal. Both Mark and Stephany were surprised again.
"This is spatial magic! Hunny, you see this? Am I hallucinating?"
"Amazing! He can use spatial magic! It's insane!"
"Thomas, you're amazing!"
"Truly magnificent spell!"
Thomas was showered with praises by Millers. But that was to be expected as they assumed he lied so he could refuse the storage ring mister Miller bought him.
"He was not lying, and he could use space magic!"
"He is such a good boy. Of course, he would not lie to us!"
Thomas got embarrassed and began pushing them through the portal.
"This good boy can hear you. Go already!"
They all went through the portal and ended up in a cafe, where Thomas met Olivia for the first time.
"Is it not the same cafe where we celebrated your sixth birthday Thomas?"
The moment they walked into the cafe, Mr. Miller asked while looking around.
"I am not sure. I would be lying if I said I remember that."
"Haha, don't worry about it!"
Ms. Miller smiled while listening to the two of them and added.
"Indeed, let us celebrate your recovery AND your amazing awakening!"
Thomas scratched his chin and asked about Clara's birthday.
"Wait, isn't today Clara's birthday? Shouldn't you celebrate with her?"
However, both Millers shook their heads and told him in perfect unison.
"SHE IS GROUNDED!"
