You've never heard of the Klyukva, no one has. The only ones who have seen it haven't lived to tell the tale. As cliche as it is, it's true. The Klyukva is a nasty creature, the only thing that follows it is death and destruction.
This creature originated from modern day southern Russia, the first reported death linked to it was in 1893. There has been a total of 197 confirmed deaths linked to the Klyukva, but there has been more than 1,500 deaths that are suspected to be because of the Klyukva, however there is not enough evidence to confidently link it to the deaths.
These deaths however, do not include non-human casualties. It is estimated around a couple hundred-thousand non-human deaths have occurred because of the Klyukva.
This creature is terrifying, and the worst part is, you probably won't even see it coming. But you can smell it. It's name literally translates to "Cranberry." This is because of its supernatural ability. This ability is so abstract and strange, not even the top scientists in the world have been able to figure out how it works, but they know the basics.
The Klyukva has that name for a reason. The only way you can tell if this creature is coming is by its scent. This creature can seemingly magically convert oxygen into benzeneacetonitrile, which in layman's terms, it converts oxygen into the chemical that smells like cranberries.
Now picture this: You are walking alone in the woods at night. You've strayed away from the dirt path you were on and now you are lost, trying to make your way back to the city. Suddenly you smell something. Cranberries. You try to locate where it is and you walk towards it. Suddenly you can't breathe. That relief when you take a deep breath is gone, and instead replaced with dread as your brain goes into panic mode. You fall to your knees and try to breathe, but that relief never comes. Then before you know it, you've passed out, and your unconscious body will soon perish.
For 197 poor souls, this terrifying demise has met them. Don't be the next.
