The reality of a person going after someone who had already another their heart long fully desired was akin to a bird singing a song, letting out a melody that never received any back. It just sang, with all its might and worth, with the tree leaves changing as seasons changed, no matter the weather, for as long as it lived. Just like any other bird, its song may spread to the winds, it would become colder, quieter, day by day, slowly, bit by bit, until the music would vanish into the air like dust along with the bird's last breath.
"And what about you?" Princess Carrie asked.
The song being sang abruptly stopped. Suddenly, a small, faint sound from the darkest part of the forest could be heard. Yet, in the midst of it all, Gavin chose to listen to his own heart beat - thumping, wild and crazy. "What about me?"
He heard the other say in a soft, muttering voice. "... don't you need me?"
"What did you say?" Gavin felt numb.
