Chereads / Cathy and Joan / Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

Joanna decided to connect Catherine to her play mates in other to make her feel loved. Catherine was almost like a prisoner who was seldom allowed to associate with the outside world because she was a princess. The queen believed her little Angel would be endangered if the privilege to roam around the streets of London like a commoner was granted to her and even if she must go out, she was never allowed to go anywhere without being piloted by a security guard who had serious instructions from the queen. This was why she had to always disguise her self and sneak out of the Castle just to freely visit Joanna. Indeed Oliver her fave body guard gave her many privileges because he understood how lonely and deserted she was and if not for him, her friendship with Joanna wouldn't be possible. One day she paid Joanna a visit and Joanna unknowingly put her into risk by taking her to a public playground in their neighborhood and blowing her cover, but she got away with that because the playground was just a place of leisure not a hide out for bandits. Actually, Joanna's plan was to connect the princess to fellow kids from different classes of the society and in so doing, she could make her feel special. This was how it happened. Catherine visited Joanna as usual and Joanna asked Catherine to follow her to the playground which was a stone throw away for she needed to introduce her to some of her play mates. At first Catherine countered the crazy idea, but after being persuaded by Joanna and for the fact that she was willing to do anything for her friend, she later accepted to follow Joanna to the playground. Joanna knew that the people of England were insanely in love with the royal family, so when She arrived at the playground with Catherine, She located her play mates and in front of them, She hugged Her friend happily and called her "Princess Catherine." This drew the attention of the kids to Catherine instantly. "Princess Catherine is a humble princess of England," she continued and Catherine gave her signal to stop talking about her in the public, but she ignored Catherine. "The princess loves me and we are friends forever!" She continued and the kids were all over Catherine in a twinkle of an eye.

"Yea it's her!" Sounded a voice.

"Wow! It's an honor."sounded another voice.

"Catherine can I be your friend?" Sounded another voice.

"I will tell mum I met princess Catherine." sounded another voice.

"Why is she dressed like that? Wow it's fun." sounded another voice.

Catherine frowned at Joanna and in response, Joanna whispered to her,

"Cathy I just want to prove to you how special you are." Hearing that, Catherine smiled and was downcast for she became a little shy and because she was like a goddess in their midst, the kids all wished to touch her; some made attempts to hug her and to an extent, the kids almost became a torment to her. A boy even pushed his lips forward to kiss her,

"What are you doing right now?" She frowned and asked the boy and the kids laughed. When this was over, Catherine thought the news of what happened in the playground could reach her mum and she insisted that she must return home or her cover would be completely blown, but Joanna encouraged her by letting it known to her that the news couldn't possibly reach the queen for none of the kids in the play ground had access to the queen's castle. As time went on, Joanna also compelled Catherine to connect with many more kids from poor backgrounds, her reason being that Catherine needed to see how much the kids of England wanted her company. Catherine had been so pessimistic, she thought that nobody wanted her company because she was a princess and she was supposed to be so conceited and mean since she had all the attention in the world. She could turn out to be the next mighty queen of England and she wasn't supposed to give a damn. But by being so eager to maintain her friendship with Joanna, she had proven to Joanna that the rich was also friendly, and Joanna was out to prove to her too that the poor weren't actually disgusted by the ways of the rich. Through out their childhood, the love birds, Catherine and Joanna, remained stuck to each other. They lived their lives like twins and they became a prove that the rich and the poor could eventually unite in England one day. Catherine never ceased from visiting Joanna's home and in response, Joanna was always ready to disguise her self as the daughter of the duke of Salisbury in other to spend some time with her friend in the Queen's Castle. The queen liked Joanna so much and in spite of that, it was unimaginable for Joanna to visit the Queen's Castle without disguising as Monica for if she did so, the queen could conclude that she is the daughter of some kind of gold digger seeking to take advantage of the princess. Catherine her self was tempted to tell her brother whom Joanna truly was, maybe that could make him stop talking about Monica as much as he did. The truth was that the prince had his eyes on Joanna, but he thought she was an ankle biter and he needed to respect the law of England and let her grow up for there had been cases of child molestation in his profile. Lest i forget, this was the exact reason Catherine had to scare him away from her friend. She scared him away not because she had a little sense of humour, but because She knew her elder brother was always as lust as fuck and he would lust for anything even female pet rabbits. The prince went away with his crimes of child molestation because he was a member of the royal family and if care wasn't taken, he could turn out to be Joanna's worst nightmare. Well, heaven knew that Catherine would never let her bosom friend fall victim to her brother's lust. But she had to warn Joanna to stay away from the prince or she will regret ever disguising as Monica in the first place and the opportunity to do this called when she visited Joanna and Joanna decided to know why she said the prince was peeping at her in the bathroom.

"You don't know, do you?" She said in response.

"Know what?" Joanna asked in deep curiosity.

"He's a maniac. The word 'self control' doesn't exist in his dictionary." she replied.

"Cathy I don't get it." said Joanna.

"A boy who is crazy enough to peep at his own sister when she is in the shower, can be crazy enough to pleasure him self on any creature that doesn't have a penis- mum said he's a sex addict, that's what I mean!" She replied plainly.

"Oh!" Joanna responded and swallowed saliva in fear.

"Better watch your back pal, I think my brother likes you. Mum had never been in a haste to punish him for child molestation." She advised.

"Wait Cathy, does he molest Children?" Joanna asked in a slow fearful tune for she pondered her friend's words in terror.

"That's exactly my point. Try to stay put and give him some gap when ever you come to the Castle to see me." she answered.

"Thanks for the advice princess." Joanna said.

In the other way round, during Joanna's first visit to the Queen's Castle, by calling Catherine a jealous troll, the prince may not be a beast throwing shots on Catherine because she deprived him of his prey, for Catherine also had rough edges and Jealousy was obviously one of them. There was a time Catherine refused to eat for a whole day because her pet rabbit went for her sister's carrot instead of hers.
