Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Nellie's pov

"Where's Dad?", I questioned my siblings as soon as I got home from school.

"Ran off with the stick insect."Isabelle replied in a bored tone.

l gasped in shock. "so you are telling me Dad went after Lucy after everything?."

"Of course, Anabelle chirped in. "l even wondered what he sees in Lucy that seems to attract him to her any way".

"Good question", I replied as I sat down after putting my backpack down.

"So how is Mum?", I asked my sisters worriedly.

"Isabelle burst out laughing to my surprised. "What's so amusing Isabelle?". I asked in displeasure.

"You're seriously asking me that?, she questioned. "so you mean you have no idea what as been going on all these while?.

l looked at her strangely, not understanding what she meant by that.

"seriously sister, isn't it obvious that our parents never loved each other all these times?".

"what do you mean by that Isabelle?". I asked in confusion.

"

"Oh please stop playing dumb sister, you clearly know that mum and dad never loved each other and if am not wrong, am sure mum feels so relieved now that Dad is finally gone".

"Please Isabelle stop spouting out nonsense. I said in frustration.

"Isabelle is right Nellie". Anabelle suddenly said making me even more frustrated.

"Well if you think we are telling lies you should see Mum your self. Anabelle added.

"What happened to mum?.

"I mean she seems so happy and contented with the fact that Dad's gone and I even heard her singing joyfully before going out!. Anabelle exclaimed.

"Well is good if she's singing joyfully." I replied . "In fact what's so wrong about that?.

"You're really dumb aren't you?". Isabelle questioned me angrily.

"What_". I began but was rudely interrupted by Isabelle.

"If you really think Mum really loves Dad isn't she supposed to be sad and heartbroken now he's left us for that stupid mistress of his?".

Well thinking of it I think my sister Isabelle is right about our parents not loving each other because as far as I can remember I have hardly seen my parents behaving lovey-dovey with each other.

I mean they don't give each other pecks on the cheek or even lips!.

They don't always agree with themselves but instead but instead they argue themselves, well sometimes Mum would try to keep the peace by bearing with Dad's annoying attitudes instead of reacting but still it's not enough to stop them from arguing.

Well l know it is expected of me as the firstborn to Knock some senses into their thick skull to stop arguing but I heard fighting is quite common among couples so I didn't bother to poke my nose into their business because seriously they are my parents!.
