I struggled with the sensation of drowning as I fell through the portal, its blue hue enveloping my vision before I instinctively shut my eyes.
Hot dry air smashed into my face like a sledgehammer, stealing my first breath as I stumbled out of the portal awkwardly. My left leg twinged lightly as I put my full weight on it, but it held fast and sturdy. I was forced to squint through the oppressive sunlight that bore down from the sky above as I attempted to take in my new surroundings.
