The sound of birds chirping in the distance woke me from my slumber. My body heavy like I've been asleep for longer than I was supposed too.
I don't know where I am...
I don't even know who I am...
Okay don't panic, it's normal not to know who or where you are right?
Of course it's not! What the hell is going on right now-
A loud crack makes my blood run cold. I turn quickly looking for the source of the noise standing up slowly looking around the foggy forest as the crack gets louder and closer as time passes.
I rush over to some bushes and hide looking out in the open as a burst of blue light lands sending a shockwave in all directions.
What is that thing?
The light fades and a beautiful girl in a green hoodie with short brown hair turns as her feet stop glowing. "Come out and fight me!"
She kicks in my direction and I just barely get out of the way before the bush I was in gets obliterated by blue light. I hit the ground rolling looking up at her. "What the hell is wrong with you!?"
She looks surprised coming closer. "A person?! You're a human like me!? I've never seen one in my Dream world before!"
I get up on my knees as she comes closer. "Dream what?"
She holds her hand out to me. "Dream world, I didn't hurt you did I?"
I take her hand getting up dusting myself off. "No, but you did almost give me a heart attack."
She smiles scratching her cheek gently. "S-Sorry about that I thought you were a monster."
I glance at the woods. "Monster? This place has monster's?"
The treeline starts rumbling and she steps in front of me as her feet glow blue. "Yeah here they come!"
Black crystal humanoid creatures burst through the treeline and she kicks once sending a streak of blue light through the forest destroying all the monsters in her path.
I can't help but be amazed. "That was incredible! You're so strong!"
She glances back with a smile. "I know, isn't it cool?"
She turns happily extending her hand. "My name is Madelyn but you can just call me Maddie."
I take her small soft hand. "It's nice to meet you, I think your name is pretty."
She blushes slightly. "O-Oh thanks, what's your name?"
I try to remember but a sharp pain shoots through my head. "Are you alright?"
I grab my head glancing at her. "Y-Yeah just can't seem to remember who I am. I just woke up on the ground then you showed up."
She looks sad as she steps closer. "You don't even know your own name? That's so sad! Don't worry I'll protect you until you get your memories back!"
I smile. "Thanks, I look forward to spending time with you."
She blushes looking away. "Y-You do!? O-Oh I mean yeah that's totally fine! I'm going to protect you! I-I mean let's just go."
I can't help but laugh at her cuteness and she gets a little flustered. "What's so funny?!"
I glance down at her. "Nothing, I just think you're really cute."
She turns bright red and blue light blows me back through the bushes causing me to roll down a steep slope. I can't stop myself as I tumble down the hill towards a cliff. I try to grab onto stuff but nothing is working.
I look up and see her glowing bright. "Don't worry I got you!"
I slide off the cliff and she grabs onto me as we fall. "How are we going to land!"
She giggles. "We aren't!"
I look down. "What do you mean!"
She kicks her foot towards the ground causing us to fly high into the air seeing a large forest below but a fog is hiding anything beyond it. "What is this place?"
She looks at me. "It's my dream world, when I go to sleep I come here. At first I was scared of those monsters but over time I go control over my abilities and now I Rule this whole area."
I look around at the fog wall. "what's beyond the fog?"
She smiles as we start falling. "Who knows."
I grab onto her tightly as we get closer to the ground. "Hey watch where you're grabbing mister!"
I look up. "I'm not doing it on purpose just get us down!"
She pouts. "Fine, you're no fun!"
Right before we hit the ground she kicks causing blue light to go in all directions making us land softly. "Here you are my sweet prince."
I breath heavily grabbing the ground. "Oh thank god that's over..."
She giggles. "Are you afraid of heights?"
I glance back glaring at her. "No, but when I'm suddenly in the air and not sure how we are gonna get down I'm gonna be a little freaked out!"
She comes over patting my head. "Awe I didn't mean to scare you. Don't worry I'll change your diaper if you mess yourself."
I get up dusting myself off. "You're an asshole."
She comes closer getting irritated. "Hey! I'm the one who saved you from going splat!"
I lean in towards her. "You're the reason I almost went splat remember!? Your body exploded with blue light like a giant fart!"
She turns bright red. "It wasn't a giant fart you idiot!!! How could you say that to the person who saved you! You're so ungrateful!"
Our faces are so close I stare into her beautiful green eyes and blush slightly before a loud boom echoes from above. "Awe damnit this was just getting good!"
I look at her confused. "What do you mean?"
She sighs stretching. "I'm about to wake up, I have work today so I'll see you tonight hopefully."
I step towards her. "Wait You're leaving?"
She smirks as a blue light comes down from the sky. "Are you gonna miss me? Dont worry I'll play with you again later. Bye Mr. Pervert!"
I reach for her but she vanishes and everything goes black. I burst awake to the sound of my alarm blaring. I groan rolling over slapping the snooze bar.
Titan rushes over to me licking my cheek. I rub his head smiling trying to remember what kind of dream I had. I felt like it was something amazing. Who knows I could be wrong.
I make my way into the bathroom taking a shower before going to say good morning to my mom. "Morning mom how did you sleep?"
She smiles happily but I can tell she didn't sleep at all. "I slept okay, are you ready for your first day at work as a car salesman?"
I laugh nervously. "Sorta..."
She gives me a hug. "Don't worry you'll do great, make sure to take Titan out before you leave."
I nod heading outside with Titan walking him as I look up at the foggy sky. I get a slight flash of deja Vu before Titan tugs me and I snap out of my daze.
On my way to work I blast music to try and get out of my head. I tend to overthink things and since Dad is gone I feel like everything in my life is up in the air. Like a boat with no rutter and a hole in the side sinking below the water.
My mom is in denial thinking the ship is fine and we are headed in the right direction. Part of me wants to wake her up to the reality of the sinking ship but the other part of me thinks if I did whatever is left of her will break along with it.
I take a deep breath and put on a smile before stepping out of the car heading into the dealership. This place is like a frat party and I'm definitely the sore thumb. I come off as green and super nice but that also makes me seem weak and an easy target. I found that out from my brother at a young age.
I make my way to the front desk seeing Mr. Barns with his huge smile. I'm not sure why but people with really high energy who make eye contact with me, makes me nervous. I'm sure he's a nice guy but I'm not sure if that's an act or his real personality.
Maybe he acts like me? Putting on a front so everyone else can't see your pain or true nature. I guess that's what makes us good salesman? The ability to trick people is a horrible thing.
I don't take pride in it and it makes every interaction I have with others seem less genuine. I ask myself constantly do I really feel this way or am I acting this way to get the reaction I want? But that's just me overthinking again...
I get ready to sit at my desk and see a girl walking in from across the dealership. My heart skips a beat for a moment and it feels like time has stopped. Why do I feel like I know her?
I take a deep breath as she comes closer when she raises her hand giving me a slight smile and a greeting I try not to fumble my words. "H-Hey..."
That was good enough I hope! She's so beautiful!!! I can't believe I work with someone like that! I glance at Mr. Barns. "U-Um who was that?"
He smiles but I can't tell if it's a happy one or I'll kill you one. "My daughter, isn't she sweet?"
I nod nervously glancing in the direction she walked. "Y-Yeah, she's a very pretty girl."
I focus on work trying not to think about her but she won't leave my mind. I even buy 3 drinks from the vending machine just so I could walk past her. This is weird I need to take a break and cool my head. Don't be a stalker you weirdo!
I sit in one of the cars outside feeling my heart race as I look down at the steering wheel. I haven't felt this before about anyone. Am I in love with her? I've thought I've fallen in love before but it's almost as if I know she's the one.
I look up seeing her walking to sit outside with some of the other salesman. She might have a boyfriend already tho... I should keep this to myself it could cause problems and maybe my feelings will fade...
