"Let's be like this forever for the rest of our life, yeah?"
Stephanie let fat tears roll down her cheeks as she received those words from Mark's mouth. How would he feel if she left early?
Would he be okay? Or, would he wallow in despair until there was nothing left from him, making him even worse than when he was still in prison?
Stephanie couldn't imagine that. But she was not the one to defy fate. She took a deep breath and whispered to Mark, "Remember that we're just human beings. Life and death would always be beyond our control."
Mark hugged her tighter, his breath fanning her skin. He spoke the words against her temple, "That's why we cherish this life even more, don't we? With the odd probability game against fate, we're still alive in the Pandemic Year three. Among these few people, it was chanced that we met each other. Whatever might happen, Stephanie, know that you're loved. I want to cherish the remaining time of you and me together."
