"Next!" Haneul called out the next outpatient, probably her last one because her assistant nurse hadn't said anything about the patient just now.
Maybe with the next patient, her assistant nurse would inform her that this patient was her last one. Her back pain was especially harsh today. She just wanted to rest. A patient walked in and sat on the chair while her eyes were still on the rest, looking through the unsorted reports.
Her eyes slowly raised from the reports and surprised herself with the unexpected appearance. Somewhere within, she did expect this. But oh well.
"I said I wanted to see you and you left me hanging." Yeom Tae said, resting his elbows on her desk as he leaned forward.
"I am not a GI or a GP." Haneul said, fixated on wanting him to see a specialist.
Yeom Tae repressed a chuckle, "Relax." He said. "I've just been to one. Literally just now."
"Really?" She raised an eyebrow.
Yeom Tae nodded, slowly resting his cheek on the back of his hand.
"Well, why see a pediatrician on duty then?" Haneul attacked him once again.
Yeom Tae pulled himself back up. He was dressed as formally as ever, loosening his tie a little such that it slightly dropped away from his collar.
"I was told your duty hours have ended." Yeom Tae muttered. "Since that happened, I decided to kidnap you. Is that okay?"
Haneul quickly ran her eyes down on herself. Did she look good? Did she feel good? Did she smell good? She wouldn't want to get kidnapped just now, she wasn't at her best. She was wearing light brown dress pants and a white dress shirt with a small ribbon in the center. Her everyday outfit, along with her cream pumps. Her hair was tied up in a small bun. She looked pretty, but tired. For her, she looked disastrous.
"What if that's not okay?" Haneul asked slowly, planning her escape.
"Haneul," Every time he spoke her name, it just felt different. "I'm kidnapping you."
Haneul pressed her lips together. This man made her extremely nervous, probably more than she was ever in the operating theater. Or even more than when she had to give the entry test for med school.
Yeom Tae stood up from the chair and walked towards her, offering her his hand.
"An unofficial date, shall we?"
He was elegant with even his gait. Even though Haneul was from a family of status as well, she felt like she didn't even hold a stick to Yeom Tae.
Haneul looked at her hands before sticking it out towards his hand to let him take a hold of her for tonight. It was unfair that he was kidnapping her right after work. She wanted to dress up. Why did she suddenly care about her appearance? It felt strange.
He held her hand gently as she stood up from her chair, walking her out of the room right away. Suddenly, her instincts wanted to pull her hand away as the hospital staff could probably see them. It made her more nervous as he opened the door to leave the room so she instantly tried to pull her hand away while the two stood in the doorway however, his grip tightened as a reaction.
He didn't shift his eyes to her and continued to walk out of the room, dragging her away. Rather than embarrassing herself again, she decided to go with the flow.
Though no one was really looking or noticing, she felt as if all eyes were on them. As they were walking through the crowded halls, she stopped her breath. When they walked out of the main door, Haneul let out a huge exhale, followed by Yeom Tae's soft chuckle.
Maybe he had noticed her nervousness. That was more nerve wrecking. Her hand was still gripped in his hand as he walked all the way towards the parking lot. His ride had been sitting there for a while now.
He opened the car door for her and finally let go of her hand. She was successfully kidnapped. Surprisingly, he didn't have a driver or a chauffeur. He walked around the car to sit in the driver's seat.
"I like driving." He explained himself, as if he had read Haneul's face. "Don't you?" He asked as he started the engine and set the rearview mirror.
"I like it too, but…" Haneul muttered and stopped midway.
Yeom Tae leaned over to her to grab the seat belt and fasten it, then fastened his own seat belt as well.
"But?" He asked, politely, showing he had been listening carefully to her.
"Well, I crashed a lot of cars." She said and pressed her lips together right away. "My parents say I'm clumsy but I swear those were coincidental accidents." She added. "It just happened so frequently that they insisted I never drive again."
Yeom Tae nodded, "If I were them, I would make you drive more." He added.
Haneul narrowed her eyes in confusion. "Why more?" She asked.
It was understandable to let her drive as per usual but why more? She was confused.
"Chase off the bad luck maybe?" Yeom Tae chuckled.
Despite his arrogant and aggressive looks, he was soft and bubbly. Every time Haneul saw him, she was able to see a different color of him. She wondered if he saw a different color of her too.
"Where are we headed?"
