Yasmin uneasily watched them walk away. She heard Caroline's words loud and clear. She was hurt.
Her husband didn't care about her, and her mother-in-law suspected her of flirting with her brother-in-law. It was embarrassing.
She had lost interest in the pastry in her hands.
"I shouldn't have come here." She walked out of the dining area, dropping the disposable plate of pastry in the trash.
She checked her phone to book a cab.
All cabs were far away from here and wouldn't arrive for another half hour. It was frustrating. Still, she booked one, which would be here in 45 minutes.
She found a sofa in the corner of the hall and took her seat on it, slipping the phone into her purse.
Soon after, a young waiter approached her and served her a drink.
"Thank you." She smiled at him as she took the wine glass.
